Inconsistent Spurs
Why are Tottenham so damned inconsistent? Not a fan but they are up and down like the proverbial yoyo.....great mid week then well beaten by the mighty Bolton.
Re: Inconsistent Spurs
WENT TO THE GAME...SPURS were hustled out of it by Bolton playing two midfield players,Muamba and Holden, who broke up every move with some fierce tackling.Spurs never got into their stride but theyve not played well against us even in the days of Dave McKay etc
Allow Spurs to boss the game and they will punish you..it was never gonna happen today...

Re: Inconsistent Spurs
maybe its because they are a bunch of no mark yid cunts?they are an average team who have hit a bit of form recently.their decent results are above the norm.when they get beaten like today that is a more realistic scorecountb wrote:

They haven't won there since 1996 so there was nothing unusual about them losing yesterday. They beat Inter in midweek and Inter drew at home with Brescia last night si Inter aren't in the best of form. Losing to Bolton is only an odd result if you're opinion of them is unduly influenced by the media which seems intent on propagating the view that they're a great side. They're not.
Re: Inconsistent Spurs
I'd say two points from the last four Premiership games is pretty consistent.

Have faith .....................Harry can always dip into his private bung account to buy new players lol

Re: Inconsistent Spurs
If you think Spurs is an average side you're living in the past.
Bale, Modric and van der Vaart are not run-of-the-mill. World class is not overstating it.
King remains the best centreback that England ignored. His body's ruined but when he plays show me anyone better in the Premiership.
Gomes, Defoe, Lennon, Huddlestone, Assou Ekotto, Crouch, Palacios are all decent players. Their form varies but I'd rather have them than not.
Bentley, Pav, Keane, Jenas, etc are great subs.
The reason for our inconsistency is the fucking massive gap at the back. Same old, same old. We currently have no first choice centre backs, and our best two (Ledley and Woodgate) are old and crocked. When Leders plays we're a different side. We also lack a truly great striker but that we can live without.
As someone else pointed out, we're poor against very physical sides and Bolton have long been our Achilles heel.
Objectively, we're still the fifth best team in the Premiership and are perfectly capable of putting away the best opposition.
The rollercoaster is all part of following Spurs. I'd rather that than become what CFC and Arse have become as clubs: corporate libraries.

Re: Inconsistent Spurs
World class is stretching it a bit! No doubt they will excel themselves and win the usual sweet FA this season.
Re: Inconsistent Spurs
You bought Woodgate knowing that he had injury problems. He didn't play much at Real Madrid for this reason and had injuries when he went to Boro. You have Gallas, Kaboul and the Croat (ex Man City .. name escapes me) who can play at the back and you're still bemoaning that Redknapp can't organise a defence ?
For the money they've spent they're underachieving and if you don't finish in the top four you'd be deluding yourself if you think that Van Der Vaart and Modric want to play in the Europa league. Similarly if Bale believes his own headlines he may think that the Europa league does not accord with his status as a 'world class' footballer.
If these players leave you won't be critical of them for their lack of loyalty because you'll understand that they're too good for an average outfit and you'll be accepting of Spurs' return to their more typical role as a feeder club to the top four.

Re: Inconsistent Spurs
Corluka and Bassong are both decent, but not reliable. Gallas was a panic buy due to the injury crisis. Kaboul, like the other two, isn't solid. The point about the defence is that it's not a proper unit. It lacks a leader without King. So I would say that defensively we're not there.
Van Der Vaart cost ?8million. Bale was less, though there are further payments on him as he achieves more apparently. Not a significant outlay. If you've watched them play, as well as Modric, objectively I do think they're up there with the very best. Are all three too good for Spurs? Probably. Are all three the first names on the team sheet every week? Definitely. Are they earning serious money? Yes. Happy players? I think so.
In terms of Spurs underachieving I think that cap fits City and Arse better, given the money of the former and the infrastructure of the latter. Neither can challenge for the title. Wenger's been living on past glories for some time. His European record speaks volumes.
Spurs a top four feeder club? In the last few years we've only sold Berbatov and Carrick for vastly inflated fees to United. To me, good bits of business as it turns out. Berbatov is talented but lazy; creatively Carrick can't lick Modric or VdV's arse. Wouldn't have either of them back.
If we don't qualify for the Champs' League, there may be rumbling. But the season has a long way to go. The notion of player loyalty is meaningless. To all of them, in every club, it's a job. They stay for the money, adulation and personal reasons.
