If the Daily Star is to be believed, this could be the end of civilisation as we know it.

"If they take off in a big way next season, they threaten to kill stadium atmosphere stone dead, IMHO. I'm all in favour of an instant ban on the fucking things. Nip the problem in the bud."

Agreed. If they do let them into football grounds here, my prediction is that it will last until the first no win, no fee legal case is brought against a football club on behalf of a spectator alleging damage to hearing. And that will be the end of that.

In fact, I would be surprised if someone acting as a spokesman for Health and Safety in the UK doesn't pop up to give a steer on this in the next few weeks i.e. a report in the Times --

" A study of supporters who had attended a Premier League football match in South Africa found that the average sound exposure during the near two hours was 100.5 decibels and peaked at 144.2dB. The research, reported in the South African Medical Journal, tested the impact on 11 fans.

Angela King, a senior audiologist at the Royal National Institute for Deaf People, said: ?At 100 decibels somebody is getting a high-level intensity of noise which they could find painful. If you have long-term exposure you will get permanent damage.?

Going 2 goals up against SA is the way to stop them !wink! . It didn't half go quiet and the SA fans began streaming out which was surprising.

The future of the horns...

Post by max_tranmere »

I can see them taking off everywhere now that the whole world has been listening to them daily at the World Cup, and will continue too for the next three weeks.

I personally think they would add a lot to the excitement that already exists in that bear-pit known as the House Of Commons. Maybe the 'hear hear' chant from MP's, when they agree with what is being said, could be replaced with an MP whipping out his vuvuzela and giving it three blasts. I think Cameron speaking, and a chorus of vuvuzela's blasting away behind him, would certainly make the debates more interesting!

What do people think? lol.

I think they would go down very well at Wimbledon. And its Andy Murray about to serve for the match....
Alternatively, crown green bowls, snooker and chess championships would be obvious places for vuvuzelas!

No need to worry, a lower decibel version is being produced for marketing in this country.

The Royal Philharmonic on vuvuzelas

Post by David Johnson »

A couple of people from the Royal Philharmonic playing extracts from Van Morrison's Moondance, Stevie Wonder's Superstition and the theme from Coronation Street.

Despite being classically trained musicians, not surprisingly it still sounds shite.
