Take plenty of cash, can be more expensive than London.

Temple Bar on the south side of the river Liffey is the nightlife zone, the equivilant to Soho or Covent Garden in London. Essex Street has lots of bars and cafes. There is a hotel there called The Clarence which is owned by the band U2 and it has a bar called the Octagan which is nice to check out. Dublin also has some very nice coastal suberbs, and if you catch the DART (Dublin's tube train) to Howth in the north east of the city, or to Dalkey in the south east, there are some lovely coastal walks. I did all these things when I was there and I had a great time. Dublin is a great city to visit.

iOther things to do when you are there: an open top bus ride around Dublin is nice, the city has some lovely architecture. There is one trip that just goes around central Dublin and another one that takes half a day and takes you out to the suberbs. Pheonix Park is nice to check out, it is the biggest urban park in the world - absolutely huge. I went on the tour of Kilmainham Jail aswell, a lot of significant things in the history of Britain and Ireland occured there. It is now empty and they take you round, at the end of the tour you visit the courtyard where many Irish martyrs where 'offed' at the hands of British Army firing squads. This place isnt morbid to visit, it is very interesting and the tour guide explains lots of things. I remember being in the courtyard and there were rows of fresh flowers that people come and lay every day to remember those people. I went on the trip around the Guinness Brewery aswell - you get a free pint of Guinness at the end! I mentioned visiting Dalkey, which is a suberb on the coast, which you can get to on the DART railway. Walk from there to Killiney and the coast road is quite high up and has lovely views. Dalkey and Killiney are the rich suburban districts of Dublin. There are some lovely old houses built into the hillsides overlooking the sea. Bono from U2 lives in Killiney and his house is massive and commands amazing seas views. Dublin also has some of the friendliest people I have ever met, every pub you go in people just chat to you for hours. Dublin people are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
