The Wire

Post by Lossieboy »

Has anyone else been watching this on BBC2?

Amazing that two pretty much unknown actors like Dominic West and Idris Elba from the UK can move to the States and star in the "Best Drama of All Time".

There accents must be the best on TV

Haven't watched what's on TV now. Watched the first series on DVD - was quite impressed. If you're interested in the authenticity of the gang culture read Sudhir Venkatesh's 'Gang Leader For A Day'. This was research undertaken in Chicago in the mid to late 90s .. I don't know if it's acknowledged by the writers of The Wire but I would think it was source material.

Watched it all on FX and now enjoying watching it all again on BBC2... and one day soon I shall treat myself to the box set to watch all over again!
