Last night I posted a snap reply to a throwaway comment posted
by C. J. Jaxxon that I took as an attack on Jews; I could
detect no 'tongue in cheek' flavour therein which might have
indicated a lack of seriousness on his part. This seems to have
led to the deletion of the thread, for which I can now only
aplologize to C. J., as having done some belated homework I can
see that humour might indeed have been his intent- although I'd
humbly suggest his making it slightly clearer in future when
he is being 'humorous' for the benefit of those of us [i.e. me]
of lesser brain

Not only you jj. I posted a mild slap down in my haste. I'm afraid the intended irony of cjj's comment went over my head in my surprise at what he'd (humourously) said. Sorry cjj. If I'd thought for a moment longer I'd have realised my error.

Apparently so [and incidentally I'm third-generation]; hence my
feeling that he and the mods were owed an explanation. I felt it
wouild have been bad manners on my part had C.J. had returned
find the thread gone without my having 'owned up'.
It was a simple misunderstanding- they've happened before here
and will doubtless happen again; it's sometimes hard, up-front, to
tell where someone's coming from. As I said, if I'd done a lttle
homework....

It must be that 'guilt thing'

Well, that makes me feel a little better- like you I at first thought
I'd missed the humour; I know my own stabs at wit occasionally
fly right over people's heads and hit the wall. with a dull thud.

Hey JJ! I remember the comment now that I think about it and I didn't take offence to it, but seeing where it was headed I made that short comment to sort of ''clean it up" so it wouldn't make a suggestion at something bad. I tried to find it to see what the hubbub was about but didn't see it only to come here to find it had been deleted, to which reading the comments here made me remember what it was. I'm sorry for you and I personally didn't think it was serious but unfortunately somebody else did. Let's keep being friends!

Hey what's happening man! At this point most of us are glad he's up there and some of us including me, ain't too happy about some of those appointments he made (Axlerod, Emmanuel, Duncan and maybe Clinton) but we're trying to be optimistic. You probably heard about the job cuts, layoffs, downsizing etc. going on here and I'm not immune from it. I'm still working but the work ain't plentiful like it was. In other words, it's slow. I'm down to 4 day work weeks. If you don't know I drive a flatbed truck hauling steel and the steel industry is included in the recession, excuse me, DEPRESSION and since helloween of last year the company I haul out of has been laying off people and cutting back on certain services. Kinda scary because you don't know what's next after the day's done. I believe we'll be ok and the way it looks I'll be able to pay rent and bills and eat but I won't have any money to go play with.

As this is still up, I assume the mods have accepted it was a
misunderstanding.
These things happen- as in my 'War joke' elsewhere, which seems
to have ruffled the odd feather
