Spandau Ballet to reform...

They played their last gig in 1990 and ended up in court in 1998 to try and sort out the band's financial affairs, but 11 years on and the men from Islington are back. They have booked the battleship HMS Belfast in London (the site of a very early gig) for this Wednesday for a press conference and it has also been announced they are to relaunch their website. It seems 99% certain they are reforming.

I don't think Martin Kemp has played bass since they broke up 20 years ago, but the others have been involved in music ever since. Several members of the band are hardly rich anymore, which is why the court case occured 11 years ago. John Keeble, Tony Hadley, and Steve Norman sued Gary Kemp for some of his songwriting royalties - and lost. John Keeble paid his own cots, so did Tony Hadley, but Steve Norman was on legal aid.

The loss was heavily felt. They almost lost their homes and it was for that reason the three of them formed a new band and toured for the next couple of years. Now The Spands are back and the money will start really rolling in. A couple of sell-out nights at Earls Court and the NEC will line their pockets very nicely! Does anyone on here fancy going to see them? Lol.

Seems like it. Most of those bands have reformed. When Spandau's arch-rivals Duran Duran reformed a couple of years ago I knew it wouldnt be long before Spandau did. I wonder if it will be kilts and crazy hairstyles all over again!

I saw them twice (in '86 and '89) and they were actually quite good live.

Spandau have given a press conference today and have announced they are to reform. They are doing an arena tour in October. I wonder if they will do another album like Duran Duran did.
