I removed Mcafee to replace it with avast after a virus, I aM USING XP W/SP2.
I cleaned the computer using Combofix and it was ok,
I then reloaded avast back on my computer and when it restarted it started asking me for a log on password?
I cant log on using a password as I never had one,
I cant log on in safe mode using Administrator and a blank password as though this does load my settings for a second it then logs me off at once?
please help?
I have a spare clean hard drive with xp loaded,
that I can load as master,
can I then slave the first drive (that needs the pasword) and remove the need for this log in code/spyware? please help?

Have you just tried hitting return when it asks for the password?

YES, its no good using the Administrator log in,
If I slave the drive and go into Safe mode
and then unlock the folders I can get at my files,
but otherwise its fully locked,
I can't find a anti virus forum that can tell me what it is and how to get rid?
but someone with the same thing claimed it was a virus exploiting NET.?
which comes with my Graphics card, and had to just rebuild.........
