the thing is, United have been hugely successful and continue to be. I doubt they will lose money but against the loans the Glazers have took out it's worrying that in business terms, all that success is only useful to pay debts. Its an insult to the United supporters and the players at the end of the day.

Man Utd's interest payments are ?62m a year, so ?100m for Ronaldo wouldn't be that much of a windfall, not even 2 year's interest payments.

For Man Utd to make enough profit to pay ?62m in interest, you would think they see the importance of keeping their best players.

The Glazers know the value of a dollar if nothing else. Given the crippling debts they have loaded onto United, and the difficulty of raising finance for such highly leveraged companies right now, I imagine they would jump at the chance of covering two years interest payments just by selling the Portuguese show pony. Sir Alex Ferguson loves money (which is why the daft cunt tried to sue Magnier over the race horse), so, since he's on ?3m a year, I expect he'd live with it, especially if he got a taste of the transfer fee.
