Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher brands England a 'dump'

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has criticised England, labelling it a "s***hole" and a "dump".

Gallagher, 41, questioned why he still lived in the country during a rant on a Dutch and Belgian TV show.

He said the only reason he lived in the UK was because of the music scene and the only thing he missed while away on tour was his girlfriend Sara McDonald and his son and daughter.

He said: "I miss watching the football, I miss getting a decent cup of tea. That's about it, other than that I don't miss anything."

He then proceeded to blast England.

"You know England is not that f***ing great, as anybody'll tell you. To live in England is a f***ing s***hole, to be honest. Well, look at it, f***dump!"

He moaned about the tourism and crime rate in the country, adding: "People have this romantic image of England, you know. London is a f***ing dump. It's full of crime, it's full of f***ing tourists. It's traffic, it's pollution. I don't even know why I live here to be honest."

Furthermore he criticised his rock star rivals for regularly giving their opinion in the media.

He continued: "Any f***ing rock star you come across that you ask about anything, they come out with that f***ing tripe. The same old f***ing bulls***. Everything is amazing; 'What do you think of Amy Winehouse?'.'Oh, she's amazing.'.'What do you think of...?'. 'Oh, it's amazing, he's amazing, she's amazing, that's amazing. Oh poor global warming, poor polar bears.' You know they don't' really f**king think that. I tend to say what everybody else is thinking. That's what I like to think anyway. I think global warming is brilliant."

Oasis started their UK tour in Liverpool on Tuesday night and were introduced onstage by boxer Ricky Hatton.

The show was their first since Gallagher was pushed over by a stage invader in Canada injuring his ribs.

Oasis are the most overrated band of all time. And i have to laugh at Noel Gallaghers new found attempts at sounding intelligent,at least his brother doesn't hide he's as thick as pigshit. Since when did Noel Gallagher become some kind of wise old sage whos opinions are worth listening to, hes just a short ugly monkey who would be serving chips if he hadn't got lucky.

You can't deny his talent Number 6. The music may not be your cup of tea but you can't deny his talent otherwise you would be saying that the defining feature of talent is that it conforms to your tastes.

It would be just as true to say of Jimmy Page or Jeff Beck that they would have been serving chips had it not been for their talent. It's an unkind thing to say. I happen to believe that Noel is quite intuitively smart as opposed to being 'book intelligent' or educated. There are different kinds of intelligence. That which is acquired by education is given undue priority.

Who said he was? It's more a blokeish, pub-level curmudgeon thing, roughly in the same vein as fellow manc Mark E Smith, whose interviews were always the first thing you read in any music mag. It's a bit of an act, perhaps, but whereas others are so PR-handled they ultimately say nothing of any interest whatsoever, it's also most welcome.
