For all the jokes about Sven and his trousersnake. he was years ahead of his time in seeing just how good this boy would be.

At William Hill you would have got 80-1.

80-1 seem quite short odds for a player many didn't expect to play to score a hat-trick... no wonder bookies are so rich!!! LOL

Paddy Power would seem to agree with you, as I just noticed that they were offering 250-1.

Even though I am a Gooner through and through. I have not been a fan of Walcott in the past, until he made that run last season was the first time he showed promise, but last night watching him play I thought he was fantastic.
And his style of play was very Thierry Henri. If he continues in this way what a player we have coming through.

Just one little point. It took a Gooner to save England. And allegedly we don't have any English players in our squad.

Given the opposition were Euro 2008 over achievers Croatia you'd think ridiculously high

beckham to warm the bench for the rest of the qualifiers?

gerrard & lampard never to be paired up again except due to injury?

heskey the big man solution up front?

In fairness for all the stick he gets Emile played very well last night, obviously Theo had a good game and Rooney looked the best he has done in an England shirt in a while.

Given England don't have a Kaka, Messi, Zidane, etc., to unlock defences and given the way England play anyway, Heskey is no worse than any other forward currently available. He's big and quick and never stops running and he can hold up the ball to allow the midfield to join the attack. He may not score many himself, but the problems he causes defenders is enough to see him given a place in the squad at least.
