Jay Z was excellent.
Currently watching a tremendous set from Joan Armatrading on BBC4
Enjoyed The Kings of Leon and Jimmy Cliff yesterday. Editors were OK, too.

I watched the delayed coverage of Jimmy Cliff's set, which was absoloutely fantastic.A great singer that inspired Ska/2Tone and bands such as Madness and The Specials.
Duffy looked stunning yesterday, but i really can't get into her music.
Jay-Z proved everyone(including myself) wrong yesterday with a brilliant headline set.I've said before that i'm not heavily into rap but Jay-Z brings more than rap with him and just might of set the platform for talented rap artists like Kanye West to grace the hallowed fields of Glastonbury.
The best is saved for last tonight when The Verve headline.Their new material will be very interesting to hear.

Re: Glastonbury 2008
I rest my case as i said in an earlier post slating Jay Z which was obvious that people had never seen him live. He totally ripped that stage and had the crowd from the first bars of the Oasis tune. Gallagher must of felt a right twat lol
Cant wait to see him live in 2 weeks time.
I think there is a moral to this story somewhere but i cant be arsed to even think about it lol

Don't be too ofended Don.Like i said in a previous post,i'm not heavily into rap,but one does'nt have to be into rap to appreciate Jay-Z's performance last night and i'm pretty sure he'll be back there again.
Glastonbury has finally become a celebration of ALL music genres, not just Rock music,as it first started.Don Roobles wrote:

Re: Glastonbury 2008
Let's forget about Amy Winehouse and revere in what was an amazing performance by Jay-Z.Gallagher has made himself an idiot with his comments, and it does show that rap at open air music festivals CAN work.
Jay Z rocked the audience with classics such as 99 Problems,Girls,Girls Girls and the excellent Encore, which he collaberated with Rock Band Linkin Park's song 'Numb'.
I have liked the Guitar bands this year at Glastonbury like Editors,K.O.L,Fratellis.But watching Jimmy Cliff,Estelle,Jay Z,Dizzee Rascal etc,was also a joy to watch
Less said about Amy Winehouse, the better.Even Kate Nash done a better set,and i can't stand her music.

Re: Glastonbury 2008
Whilst im not a rap fan i thought jay z was good.
Interesting to see a rap artist headlining what has been a mainly rock festival.
Will we see a rock group at the MOBO awards now?? That will be interesting to see, after all is it not about ALL music? And yes i know what MOBO stands for but if glasto can change so can it.
Mind you the interview jay z had with that complete idiot and embarressment Tim Westwood was painful. That guy is a joke kidding on he is from 'the street'
Winehouse is an embarressment yet i hear they want her to headlline next year! The way she is going she wont be here and if she is they will have trouble selling out on the back of junked up mess.

Given there are many all-black rock bands there's no reason why not... especially as rock comes from the blues, and the blues is definitely music of black origin!
