Thanks for all your views, and lets hope this thread does'nt die as we run up to the tournament, and as it progresses !thumbsup!
I've got Switzerland in the sweepstake at my workplace. That's my chances of winning the money fucked !laugh!.
I'm surprised none of the papers have released any of their fantasy football competitions yet.I compiled my own Euro 2008 team, and not more than one player from the same nation. How impressive is that? !wink!
Boruc(Poland),Djorou(Switzerland),Skacel(Czech Rep),Pogatetz(Austria),Materazzi(Italy),Ribery(France),Ballack(Germany),Deco(Portugal),Torres(Spain),Ibrahimovic(Sweden),Huntelaar(Holland)

One thing, the Czech Republic---on the showing against Scotland---are not potential winners. They may be 3-1 up, but they will suffer against better-organised defences.

Re: Euro 2008
The Czech's are weak in alot of areas.I doubt they'll get past the group stages.Eastern Europe's chances will come from Croatia imo.
The team list was based on players i actually know.Skacel i think plays for Celtic,as does Boruc. My mentality on fantasy teams is make your defence affordable, strong and experienced and then you go crazy on your midfield and strikers, which is where the goals mostly come.Caractacus wrote:

Re: Euro 2008
strange things happen in the euros, don't count out anyone, especially with home advantage, remember Denmark and Greece!!
we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester
Re: Euro 2008
I won on the sweepstake at work with Greece last time around. When I drew it, I tried swapping it for another go, but rules are rules. I was ?40 up after Euro04.
The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Re: Euro 2008
I shall cheer on the Dutch. They'll be lucky to get out the group stages, though. I can't see myself cheering for the likes of France, Italy or Germany though - that would be like a City fan cheering on United.
Are you actually speaking english, or are you just making up words as you go along? I do that too...

Re: Euro 2008
totally disagree, before the world cup supporting the Germans would have just been wierd, after being in their country for the world cup I so changed my mind to their way of thinking towards football
we arrived in a major city 3 car loads of England fans with cars decked out on our way to our base, just as they finished and won thier first game, and as expected all the fans poured out of the bars etc onto the streets cheering, flags etc etc
so there is us, basically shitting it, thinking, oh god we are dead
and wot happened, we had truck loads of Germans pulling up next to us, leaning over, shaking our hands out of the windows, shouting 'welcome to Germany', blowing horns, spraying us with beer etc etc
that hour driving through that city to be honest was frankly humbling
we all said, if that was in England, and we were German, we would have not made our destination
that's real football fans, and I will support that, that's why i'm for the Germans this time

Re: Euro 2008
I would'nt support the Germans because the fact they were 'nice to us' at the World Cup.However,i too spent 2 weeks out in Germany in 2006,and we were well appreciated as diplodocus rightly said.
I just 'think' Germany will win Euro 2008.I 'want' the Czech's to win it.....for Petr Cech and to compensate for a frustrating season for the fella.Certainly did'nt deserve to be on the losing side in Moscow last week.diplodocus wrote:

Re: Euro 2008
I think the Dutch will be the most entertaining team of the tournament, and the most attacking. With the likes of Snjeder(sp?),Babel,Robben,Van Persie,Van Nistelrooy, the threat from the Oranje is deadly and should be taken seriously.
Holland play Wales tomorrow in their final friendly before Euro 2008.Watch out for a player called Klaas Jan Huntelaar, currently plays for Ajax Amsterdam and is one of Europe's hottest prospects.Defineteley a transfer target for Man United or Chelsea this summer.Cactus Jack wrote:
