What formats can your DVD player handle Ace?

Re: Changing media files
Jacques will hopefully come on here later and help you more than I can but it does depend on what version of .avi files they are in as there are many different ones such as divx, xvid etc etc.
Use something like Avi2Dvd which converts most of the different .avi formats to mpeg2 (Dvd format).
It's free and there's a how to use section and forum on there to help you through it.
I've used it before so it obviously can't be that difficult.

Thanks lads, always nice to know that whilst we are happy to be at each others throats over football, we can come together to help someone out.

Re: Changing media files
There are many, many ways. Personally I bought a Bush DVD player from argos for ?20 plays avi, DivX and Xvid directly from disc to TV. So I transcode all files to Divx using 'Dr DivX' which is free then burn a data disc and jobs a good un - bung it in and all the files are there to be played back. You do lose a little quality though with wmp files, but not much.
If you don't want to go that route you will need to convert to DVD format - your problem here is that you will lose quality and quite a bit but if you do want to do this there are many ways to do it. The one Eduardo suggests is probably the way to go if you want it simple.

Re: Changing media files
I never really lost that much in the way of quality with Avi2Dvd but then I never tried to cram too big a file onto a 4.7gb disc.
If I was a bit over I'd often use Dvd Rebuilder and put it on before I went to bed and have it shut the computer down when it finished.
If there's another better way then I'd appreciate the info.
I have that same Bush Dvd player that you have as I followed your advice in a previous thread a while back and it works a treat so thanks for the tip.
