The simple reason is money. Getting 4th place has to be worth at least another ?10m to the club and most players will get serious bonuses for getting to the Chumpions League.

A scouser turned up at mine last night after buying some furniture I sold on ebay, he was a really nice bloke as well, very polite, and I asked him if he came down the M6 and he looked confused, so I said 'coming from Liverpool?' and he said, 'Sorry mate, I left that place years ago, its gone to the dogs now'
Still, I made sure Mrs Ace watched him like a hawk............besides, you can take a Scouser out of Liverpool, but you can't the Liverpool out of a Scoser !wink!
