Stan Laurel - My Hero
Re: Stan Laurel - My Hero
The Hoad Monument is worthy of a climb as well- always wanted to see that.
Re: Stan Laurel - My Hero
Laurel was brilliant.
Anyone remember that rumour that did the rounds some years back, about Clint Eastwood being Stan's son?

There is a small Laurel and Hardy museum in Ulverston.
Of course few realise that this "simple" man was in fact the brains behind the duo, writing many of their scripts, coming up with routines, even directing some of their films.

Sadly the old Hartleys brewery closed about 10/12 years ago... made some of the best bitter I've ever tasted.

They are my heroes too. Love them even after all these years and seeing their films time and again.

Indeed so. However, you do hear this trotted out from time to time in an 'I'm in the know' manner and I'm often left wondering if they've actually seen the God-like L & H recently. It's all very well being talented behind the camera, but the crucial part was always on-screen, and on-screen Oliver Hardy's contibution is phenomenal. Arguably the best physical comedian there's ever been. Take a bow, big guy.
