Re: So is Blu Ray the winner?
Blue-Ray was backed by Sony, Samsung, Pioneer, Panasonic, LG, Phillips, Dell, Hitachi, Hewit Packard, Sharp, Electronic Arts, Walt Disney....and I think Apple.
HD DVD only really had Toshiba, NEC, Sanyo and Microsoft. They thought that if they got the big film studio's 'on-side' that they'd walk it, but the film studios were always going to use a format that the major hardware companies were backing.

Are you aware that Sony are no longer selling the 60Gb PS3, all stocks were sold out before Xmas.
The only model now available is the 40Gb model, but this does NOT play PS1 or PS2 games (which the 60Gb model did).
Not sure if it is an issue for you.

guilbert, the 40gb ps3 does play ps2 games but not straight out of the box. you update to the latest firmware and then it plays them.
Re: So is Blu Ray the winner?
Only problem is Sony are saying that they won`t be allowing porn to be published on Blu ray. Secondly it`s made my sony, they can`t make a decent cd laser or motor for love or money. Plus remember UMD or Minidisc? No? exactly
Bukkake shots where you are with a few other guys...is fucking gay.
In fact, about pulling trains with a woman...you wanna have sex with other guys and mix your sperm with theirs...you're just using a woman as a conduit.

Everything I have seen and read leads me to believe that there is no firmware update to let it do this.
Do you know someone who has done it ?
Can you find me a link that says it is possible ?
These links seem to indicate it canot be done

Re: So is Blu Ray the winner?
Porn is being released in Blu-Ray with Digital Playground re-releasing some of their titles in that format.
TBH unless you have a 42" LCD and all the equipment to go with it I don't think that Blu-Ray is going to be that much of an improvement over DVD, and quite frankly think that a lot of people are just getting over the switch from vhs to dvd. So Blu-Ray maybe has won the format war so far but I don't think the general public really want or need this new format just yet.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
Re: So is Blu Ray the winner?
Think its way to early to say which one is winning the format war.
LG has make a drive that will play both Blu ray and HD DVD discs

Does this mean I've got to get rid of my Betamax then ?
