A very reasonable post Deuce. Still, I don't believe that inwardly, you'd not smirk to yourself regarding a belief in fairies and fingernail circumcision.
I don't think judging someone on their beliefs is wrong. If I believed all gays should be crucified, or all blacks should be slaves, I'd think it reasonable for you to make a judgement on my character.
Is belief in God idiotic?

But it may prove a fundamental law to be wrong and from that you can reasonably infer that science is fallible. Belief and God are there to be researched and experimented with as much as K and H2O are.
Blind faith or belief with no reason behind it is pointless, valueless and incredibly harmful. Analyse your experiences go and explore different avenues of belief in a scientific and open minded way, then decide whether or not there is something. Belief itself cannot bring you closer to God you may convince yourself it does or you may create a feeling of closeness, but for that belief to be worth anything it should be founded on more than some old book or because you think it's right.
To me it is not so much proving yes or no, but is there evidence of phenomena or events which cannot be explained by "science", which suggests that maybe there is something. Applying my personal experiences and coming up with a belief in something greater than us.
