Is belief in God idiotic?

What are your thoughts? Does believing in something that you've no evidence for make you retarded..........like a belief in ghosts, or fairies?

Just been taking the piss out of a pastor somewhere in cyberspace. I gave him a hypothetical situation he's not answered yet.

You believe in God with all your heart.

You're part of a jury in a horrendous murder trial.

The defendant has admitted killing and raping 3 school girls, and promises to kill and torture more if released.

All dna, and other physical evidence, plus numerous witnesses all point to the guy as the murderous, raping paedophile.

The night before you give your verdict, the angel Gabriel comes to you in your sleep and tells you that your place on the jury is a test of faith, and God wants you to acquit the peado. God says he's innocent regardless of evidence, and the mans guilty plea.

What is your decision? God's word, or scientific evidence?
