Why does this make the top news story.

If the evil bastard wants to kill himself let him.

Unfortunately, death would be too good for him. Too quick.

What he needs is a life in solitary. No human contact unless his life is in danger. No TV, no books, no magazines, no visits. And for him to live to 100.

Why do the chavs think those whom oppose the death penalty are woolly liberals?

a wooly liberal speaks

Quite. As he has tried to top himself twice now, though the temptation IS to let him succeed, why give him the satisfaction of 'escaping' his sentence? I wouldn't go so far as you in how harsh his prison regime should be; but far better that he awakes each and every day to know and reflect on what he has done, aware he has little hope of freedom, than to be released by a death of his own choosing.

I agree; don't let the cunt die for fucks sake. That's too easy.

because it sells papers

People love to read about EVIL people

Personally i think the state would be best to give him the necessary tools to complete the job otherwise you'll end up with a Martin Bryant(5 suicide attempts in 10 years) on your hands

While it might be nice to see a murderer suffering its never going to make up for the victims & their families

Some ven think these attempts are attention seeking to get their name up in light again

Bryant is almost certainly seriously mentally ill. No-one has given the death penalty [on the basis that they would be unable to make their peace with their Maker] to the insane or mentally ill since Tudor times.

There's a lot to be said for this attitude.

Look at Brady, Sutcliffe, Black. All of them stuck in jail, year after year, rotting away, bereft of their monster mythos. Execute them, and they would retain that scary reputation. But with each passing year, they become less relevant to the world. Brady has spent years fighting to be allowed to die (he's still getting his lawyers to try now). Someone like Jack the Ripper will cast a long shadow in the public psyche, because he was never caught. Fred West and Harold Shipman may continue to intrigue us because they died while we were still wondering about their crimes. People like Huntley will just fade away, hopefully racked with guilt over what they did.
