Why doesn't Tarantino dress properly? Whenever I've seen him he always dressed up as a little boy.
Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof
Re: Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof
Watched it, kind of hated it. Apart from Kurt Russel's performance.
It was very self indulgent, the characters are horrible, far too long. I can't decide whether the acting was terrible and the dialogue was so bad because it was a homage to exploitation films or whether the acting and dialogue was just terrible.
I've enjoyed Tarantino movies over the years. Some things have always bugged me about him, the ego, the self promotion, putting his name on other people's work, the stealing of other peoples ideas and getting praised for it. But his films have been good. However, he seems to have no self control any more. Kill Bill was originally one film, which they split because it was too long, edit, trim it down.
Now Death Proof was too long when it was part of Grindhouse, now it's even longer! I think even hardened Tarantino nuts, if they're honest, will be disappointed with this effort. Pulp Fiction was his peak and since then he seems to prefer to spend his time by taking time off and publicising himself, I don't think he'll reach that level again. But I hope I'm proved wrong.

Same as the Radiohead principle ... didn't want to do variations on 'The Bends' for the remainder of their career.
Re: Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof
Grindhouse probably about as worthwhile as Nick Cave's Grinderman. Vanity project !
Re: Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof
As Fitzgerald said, there are no second acts in American lives. He's shot his bolt !

Re: Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof
I'm almost starting to believe it might not be worth watching. Did anybody actually like the film?
I loved Jackie Brown but on an initial viewing in the cinema it was a bit of a strain on the glutes but grew to love it immensely on dvd.
He might be into his self aggrandisement but I genuinely feel he loves making movies and reckon he would talk all bloody day about movies if you get him on the subject.
