p2p programs like limewire and kazaa are now the "old" way of getting porn and music and movies.

The problem with limewire etc is that there is no control on what people put there and if it contains viruses etc.

The new way is torrents. With torrents there is some control and people can put feedback to say if a download is good or not.

Also with torrents you dont download one short clip but long clips, photos, full albums and full movies.

Use it as follows:

Download a torrent client like Azureus from here:



Then go to torrent sites like these (you do have to register. I have registred and never had a problem):







It can take a bit of time to get the hang of torrents but once you do you will never go back to limewire etc.

The problem with vista or xp running service pack 2 is that half your computers ports are closed off for security, you can do a port forward, but need to know what your doing, you tell your virtual server which port the file share is coming through, also enable the windows firewall, but make an exception for the file sharing scheme you choose, otherwise you will never download anything faster than 2-6kb per second so a long wait.....

Personally i wouldn't waste my time with p2ps given the amount of dickheads changing the titles of downloads let alone the nasties

It's not the P2P that is the problem now, it seems the ISP's are blocking all P2P traffic.

Just upgraded to windows xp service pack 2...just new there would be a downside...lol

In your expert opinion lizard are the p2p specific firewalls like protowall & peer guardian worth using in place of your existing firewall when surfing p2ps

I don't have any problems with XP SP2, I use lots of extra utility programs to endure my system is firewalled, anti-virused, etc, to the hilt.

All it takes is about 30 seconds to edit the firewall programs to allow port access, if the program can't connect straight off the bat.

That is where, in the Control Panel/Settings/Tools function of the P2P program you use, you edit the Port Range you want to allow P2P traffic on. P2P will work on alot of diff port ranges.
