Sure I read somewhere that David Bowie was offered the song by
Paul Anka and turned it down. As they say the rest is history
Prefer Sid Vicious version myself

Re: My Way.
Elvis, Bowie, Franks calls the shots for all those guys.
Paradise is for the blessed. Not the sex-obsessed.
Re: My Way.
Sid Vicious version is OK, what REALLY makes it isn't the croony shit start Sid sings, but when Steve Jones's Les Paul kicks in and Sid sings ala taking the piss, and giving it plenty of bollocks although I HATE the line; 'Today, I killed a cat'.
As for ol' Blue eyes, BB is right, you cannot beat 'Summer Wind' which was the intro music for the excellent film; 'Pope of Greenwich Village'

It's OK, no cats were harmed in the making of the record.
Re: My Way.
Theres an urban myth that this is the most requested 'final song' for inmates about to be executed.
Its bollocks!
However, it is probably the most requested song at a funeral outside religous hymns etc
