Computers have also gotten more powerful and prejudice is less prevalent you cant just state 2 things that have happened at the same time and say there is a link. The reason disabled (which by the way is considered a non pc term) people are now treated more fairly has to do with equality laws and disabled people campaigning to raise awareness which has led to more knowledge and understanding and more acceptance not to mention peoples attitudes simply change. The world is a smaller place as well these days we can chat to people on other continents now as easily as turning the computer on so people in Africa don't seem like they are on another planet anymore as they did in the 70's.
The problem with Pc is its generally implemented by the fluffy bunny brigade, who aren't a part of the group they are trying to change things for . They just tell everyone else what they think is right. Its the "that might offend" mentality. The bnp might not use the N word at their rallys anymore but does that make them less racist? Surely if Pc was working the bnp would not be having the resurgence its currently having. Political correctness has ruined childrens tv and books. It is full of double standards for instance the campaigning for different etnicities and lifestyles to be represented in the media, which is a good thing but if you have ever watched "The Cosby Show", "Goodness Gracious Me" or any number of almost entirely black cast contemporary comedies you will see that it doesn't work both ways.
Equal rights are imperative but Political correctness is unnecessary and badly implemented.

I know a gay couple and they describe themselves as "middle-aged queens"! They don't go in for all this PC rubbish (their phrase). They accept that Tatchell has highlighted the problem of homophobia in this country.

If you are a well adjusted, decent person you won't use offensive terms to someone just because they are different you do not need pc.

If the pc lot had their way this site wouldn't exist. People haven't become less prejudiced or less offensive because of any pc education but because we have a more multi cultural society and people adapt and change people have been educated but not by any pc organisation. You cannot force people to be more accepting by force.

According to my gay pals, the homosexual community have regained and reinvented words such as "poof" and "queen" and are using them in a positive manner. How do I know this? - I've just been speaking to them on the phone!
