good fight, probably correct decision apart from the american judge who had it 4 rounds to Mayweather -wtf!!
pity though, really wanted La Hoya to kick his ass

De La Hoya/Mayweather
we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester
Re: De La Hoya/Mayweather
De la Hoya has never got the rub of the green with Vegas judges (Trinidad, Mosley rematch etc). I thought he just edged it but it was close so no complaints - just the right decision for a big money rematch!

I didn't see the fight but he (De La Hoya) was predicted to win but thnk about it! This fight and a possible rematch will do a lot for quality boxing now.
Re: De La Hoya/Mayweather
I thought Oscar edged it.
It wasn't as good a fight as I had expected.

Re: De La Hoya/Mayweather
I watched it and it wasn't a classic by any means and I scored it by 2 rounds to Mayweather.
They say styles make fights and because they are both boxers then it was never going to be a tear up and I agree with De La Hoya in that if he hadn't come forward then it would have a snooze fest.
De La Hoya threw a lot of leather in the first 6 rounds and ran out of steam more because of that than his age.

Re: De La Hoya/Mayweather
Mayweather is imo the greatest boxer of all time.
Gave the fight to him be a couple of rounds, close fight but the right verdict in the end. De La Hoya did indeed run out of steam towards the end.
When you look at who Mayweather has fought he has mixed in the highest class possible and ducked nobody, and with the exception of Carlos Hernandez nobody has put him down or indeed even really troubled him.
He makes good fighters look ordinary. If he does retire its shame, would love to see him fight Antonio Marageritto what a fight that would be, outstanding techinican against a real banger. Cotto would be good to, but I fear Mayweather speed would make him look sluggish.

Re: De La Hoya/Mayweather
Had Mayweather by 2 rounds. He was scared of Oscar and was very cautious, but he did what he had to do to win.
Oscar has only fought about 3 times in 5 years and it showed. If he'd have been more active I think he'd have edged this fight, but it's history now.
They've both been great champions and Mayweather took on Oscar at the right time. The fight should have been done 3-4 years ago. That would have been a classic.

I wouldn't say floyd was anywhere near the greatest of all time. The only top class fighters he's faced in their prime were castillo, corrales & judah. All his other "big name" wins were against people well past their best.
