Gerald McClelland v. Nigel Benn. It was agreat fight but Benn should of been counted out in round 1 I think. The referee was absolute shite, and in the end we all know what happened to Gerald McClelland.

Actually Barerra was winning the first fight on all 3 judges scorecards before he got DQed.

In the second fight Barerra I thought Barerra won it myself and was unlucky not to get the decision. not the biggest robbery of all time for sure, but still a bad call in my view.

Time has told who the better fighter was.

you're absolutely right.
benn was given a good 15 seconds to recover in round 1 but came back to beat mclellan in an incredible battle of wills.
similarly, buster douglas was given 12 seconds (ish) to recover from a heavy knockdown against iron mike, subsequently going on to spark him a few rounds later.
both fabulous fights though, in their own way.

irrespective of records, i think 'poison' had barrera's number - remember, styles make fights.
just because ken norton doesn't go down in the history books as a 'great,' he arguably beat ali - twice - with something to spare.

.........and Nigel Benn was a much better fighter than Eubank but Eubank's style always gave Benn trouble.

I agree that Benn was a better out and out brawler.
However, he lacked finesse and boxing brain, and generally relied on brute strength and fighting heart to get through a fight.
When met with a thinking fighter, a la Michael Watson/Sugarboy Malinga/Eubank his shortcomings were exposed.......
and talking of Malinga, there was another atrocious decision...........
