I don't think you're correct . Orwell fought with the POUM who were Trotskyites and found himself far more in sympathy with them than with the Communists who were run by the Kremlin. But I don't think he would have described himself as a Trotskyite. Even so he was on the hit list after the Communists hounded the POUM, falsely accusing them of collaborating with Franco.

My wife is an independent consultant.
My father was a non-commissioned officer in the Dutch army.
My grandfather was a non-commissioned officer in the Dutch navy.
My other grandfather was a market gardener. His wife, my granny, owned a grocery shop.
My father-in-law owned a plumber's workshop.

What exactly did I and my family do that you hate us so much? Alright, my granny went bankrupt. So she was a loser, while you are a winner. But apart from that: what did we do wrong?

Yes I have to admit I am a university type and a proffesional but don't know if I qualify as middle class as I am stuck in shared accomodation at the age of 35 and can't see a way out.
My attack was not against the middle class or educated people just against the "left wing pseudo intellectuals" who claim to have an egalitarian agenda but in practise actually despise the working class and the section of the working class they despise the most is the skilled and aspirational working class.
They seem to have the attitude that poor people should be happy living on shitty councill estates as long as they are given benefit or that it is ok to flood the country with cheap foreign labour at the expense of those already here.
