Its a pity that Blair allowed himself to be sidetracked by Bush into the disastorous invasion of Iraq. Without the diversion of resources to that benighted conflict, British forces in Afghanistan could really be achieving something for world safety, as well as rescuing the Afghans from the Taliban. As it is it has become a rather forgotten sideshow.
By the way, do you know Britain has invaded Afghanistan 4 times in the last 180 years. The previous 3 were not overwhelming successes.

Respect, whatever the BGAFD tree huggers say about our troops shouldn't be involved, Bush & Blaire are murderers etc etc pound for pound our soldiers are the best even with their crap equipment and lack of support.

i have total respect for the Royal Marines, my father was a Royal Marine Commando during WW2 and was involved in some horrendous battles, which i only found out about after he died and the Royal Marines provided an escort for his coffin as well as playing the last post at the graveside. he had never said a word about his war service while alive.
i also have respect for all the armed forces who are fighting this totally unjustified war.

the secret to laying the foundation of democracy is knowing where to place the machine gun!(Foggy Dewhurst)

My father was in 45 Commando in WW2. He didn't talk much either. He did say that his fellow commandos were the hardest bunch of men he ever met.

Years later, about 1980, I was living in New York. He came over to stay with me for a couple of weeks and one night we were out at a Jazz club. A couple of Americans (another father and son) joined our table and the Yank father insisted on telling us all about his being a US Marine. "I was a jarhead!" He said at one point.

"Jarhead - fucking jar mouth you are" was my father's reply. Always makes me laugh when I think about it. Also he managed to get our drinks tab moved on to the Yank's just before we left the club, without him knowing.

The shocking thing about this is that our forces are so poorly equipped that they had to tie themselves to the outside of Apache helicopters, because there were no troop carrying helis available. I believe there are only 6 Lynx helis in Afghanistan. Tony B. Liar said the forces there could have whatever they needed, but as ever this two faced lying shyster was full of shit. He's happy enough to send the forces into action, but won't make his good friend Grim Gordon find the money to give them proper kit, whether it be helicopters, armoured vehicles, or even decent ammunition. So in Afghanistan the troops don't have the helis they need, have to use unarmoured Land Rovers instead of properly protected vehicles, and even have rubbish Belgian ammunition that jams their machine guns. Blair isn't fit to polish their boots, the screaming little queen.
