Alloy Wheels for what cars?

Post by Ace »

I have finally started to sort through the garage of the house we brought 18 months ago, and discovered 4 x 15" AEZ icon alloy wheels. They are virtually new with no wear on the treads, and have stayed inflated since I cleaned and pumped them up. A REAL bonus considering I thought they were just old tyres.
As they're now cleaned and looking rather spiffing, I'm putting them up for sale, BUT...............how do I know what car they are for? Do I sell them as 15" Alloys, or must they be specified for a particular make and model?

The fitment will vary from car to car - most obvious thing is whether they are 3, 4 or 5 stud but even then different cars can have different stud patterns even if they are both 4 stud. The good thing is that there are lots of cars that have the same stud patterns but without any idea of what they were meant for originally its gonna be difficult to sell them unless there is a part code on the wheel somewhere which you could use to cross reference it.

There is a maega market for tidy alloys amongst the Nova/Saxo crew. Just stick them in your local paper and watch them go. 15" are fine for the super-mini amrket as the arches won;t take mcuh bigger and /or the turning circle is knackered.

Alloys and metallic paint, and latterly sat nav are the ONLY extras really worth having. Friend of mine has a Merc ML with 22inch wheels. Tyres and wheels cost ?5000, ouch.
