Well after all the euphoria of the 2005 series, all I can say is - normal service has been resumed !sad!.

To be honest it has all been a little predictable and who can honestly say that they thought England had a chance to win the series?

Not many I suspect.

Sure we can all keep going on about how we beat them last time but before that series England were a hungry team and on an upward curve. But after winning that series instead of it being a catalyst or springboard to go to the next level and dominate like the Aussies (and Windies before them) it seems that series was their pinnacle and their Everest.

Since then too many of the players have dined out on it (and still are) and too many have taken a step backwards and aren't in the same form or as hungry for success as July 2005.

As for the bowling being toothless then what did the England managerial set up expect? Giles had barely bowled for 14 months, Jimmy Anderson barely for 6 1/2 months and Harmison for 3 1/2 months.

They were never going to be anywhere near there peak after that length of time out and little match practice.

This series is gone although lets not get too depressed about it because after this series Hayden, Langer, Martyn, Gilchrist, McGrath and almost certainly Warne won't be around for the next and in all likelyhood we'll then give them a good thumping.

Cricket has gone the same way as football, we in England invented these games but the ex colonies have changed the rules, we send puffs to play them instead of sending the good tough men of this country out to knock shite out of them !thumbsdown!

for what its worth heres how i see it. We have no Michael Vaughn, no marcus stress trescothic and no simon jones. Those were 3 key players in our ashes win of 2005. At the start of the series i predicted a 3-0 win for the aussies and ill stick with that. For all his hard work and being a genuine nice guy im sorry i dont think flintoff should have been named captain. For a start his batting has suffered, mind you the same happened to Vaughn when he was named captain. I just feel now is not the time for flintoff to be captain. I would have chosen strauss. He has a good cricket brain, and is not scared of making tough decisions. You need a person who is not to pally with certain members of the team, ie flintoff and harmison. So now England need to show some pride and try to avoid a 5-0 whitewash. With the next test at perth and another slow wicket i predict an Australia win.

My dreams don't involve buttercups convict. Blondes with big tits and big arses yes but not buttercups.

Make the most of this series as it's your last hurrah and the end is nigh. Remember the whole of world cricket is waiting for you lot to fall on your faces when the so called invicibles retire and you then get drubbed by all and sundry. Then the rest of the cricket world can mock you lot like you've mocked the rest of us with your smug superiority complex.

Top class cricket team you may have been but that's been matched by the aussie arrogance and your total lack of humility.
