i.e, posted a harmless message on a forum a few weekes ago, complimenting a model. But I got banned, so I re registered again amn then my i.p address was recognised and she said she was watching me and that I was leaving a trail of info behind me, which made me half shit myself. So what, they were compliments, not harmful posts.

I've since learned she works in the computer section of a government dept and models part time. So, can she see where I've been on the net from HER computer?? can she hack into my I.P address and trace where I've been??

Is this a case of Big Brother (or Sister in this case)??

Sounds very possible. I'm sure it works in the same way if not better than a wire tap your ip address. I wouldnt bother too much though...So you like looking at porn sites? So what.

The header of every IP packet contains its source address i.e. you and therefore it is possible, but not easy if you have a good firewall, to find out where you have been on the net - you just have to know which port to listen to when you are online. With a good firewall the listener will get as far as your ISP and not your traffic.

That is from Remote Access, as well as other back-door trojan-like proggy's, if you DO NOT really know the person, then don't accept the files, as with Remote Access, it can be got around the security features, unless you have it Disabled.

If you surf using a decent level 1 or 2 anonymous proxy, noone will trace you anywhere ... not unless they happen to seize the server logs of the proxy server in a cellar in Outer Mongolia that is between you and the net.

Not so easy to find and configure good anon proxies that professional trace tools won't see through yourself. But there are progs that do it automatically quite well ... HideIP is a decent one, for example.

Agree - don't worry, any web site owner can see your IP address. Beyond that, she knows nothing about you, unless she's a major hacker, and then she has more to fear from the law than you do.
