Correct re Ashley Wrong re Joe.

J Cole was doing really well in the comp until he scored his wonder goal then it went to his head.

His role wasn't to go inside do his fancy step overs and give the ball away as much as he did in the matches after the goal.

Don't get me wrong he wasn't in any way the worse player on the park but the way he was playing in the games after his goal could and should have been corrected by the coaching staff in the same way Mourinho did with him at Chelsea.

I am not saying he should have been imediately dropped just told how he was affecting the game and that he would be substituted if he didn't.

It's very easy to label it a stamp when watching it close-up and in slow motion but the fact is it happened in a split second, Rooney was doing his best to stay on his feet and keep the ball despite having been fouled and if he stood on the player it was unintentional..... and he shoved Ronaldo because he was so obviously disappointed and disgusted that the back-stabbing little prick came running over trying to get him into trouble. He pushed him away in a disappointed manner and maybe he should have earned his red card and punched the slimy little bastard.
I hope Ronaldo has a hard time back at Man U, not just from Rooney but Neville and Ferdinand and that he plays a good few Premiership games before pissing off to Spain, and that his every touch earns him a booing.

Joe cole is not naturally left sided - that's not his fault... from what I have seen he always tries to cut inside from the left... and with the ineffective frontline, I for one don't blame him for consistently trying to create something - even if he was repeatedly caught out.

At last we can speak the truth. We were crap, and never had a hope in hell of getting near the finals.

What I don't understand is why we always lose of penalties. Even a crap team can win on penalties sometimes!

Rooney has a bloody short fuse and can't control himself as a professional. You could see that coming from when he won that BBC Young Sports Personality award and turned up with tie at half-mast and chewing gum.

He comes across as an arrogant lad who would be a bit of a streetfighter if he wasn't so talented as a footballer.

He will now- lest we forget- face an automatic 3 match England ban in Euro 08 qualifying; and FIFA may raise this to up to 6 games. With Owen out as well- and unlikely to return as the man he was- we may just have problems qualifying for Austria/Switzerland.

Unless Walcott comes good...maybe Sven will have the last laugh after all....

3 match ban? 6 match ban?
Strange then that in another game in the same tournament a headbutt during play can only warrant another player a yellow card. I don't think anyone would have any problems with rules if they (and the subsequent punishments for breaking them) were treated with some degree of consistancy. Rooney may be a hot-head who loses his rag but a deliberate stamp it was not, perhaps he should now be coached to be a playacting cheat instead? I would LOVE to know what Ferguson makes of it all, and what Ferdinand, Neville and Rooney really think of Ronaldo (it would be interesting to hear Roy Keanes opinion too...)

I'd say they think he is a shit. Who will soon be off to Real Madrid or indeed, practically anywhere to escape.

Like I said in another thread. Rooney trod on the guys nuts, he didn't stamp on them! Maybe it was on purpose, maybe it wasn't. The ref only reacted after the push on Ronaldo!

Watch the video & tell me I'm wrong! Just keep watching the refs reactions to the foul, then the push.

Sam you are dead right. The ref is obviously not beyond a bit of Hispanic cheating himself as he has stated in his report that the red car was given for the "stamp" - which of course 1) he clearly couldn't see well enough to notice if the split second positioning of Rooney's foot was anything of the sort (if he saw anything at all) and 2) if that constitues a stamping then my dictionary wants updating. He signalled for a foul and a free kick, and then when that lovely boy Cristiano decided to get involved gave Rooney the red for "violently pushing" him. If the English FA don't give Wayne all the help and backing he needs when facing the FIFA disclinary board then they really are the disgrace I think they are

He was about a yard away from the incident, probably the only one in the stadium to spot the stamp in real time.
