Freddie Garrity, lead singer of Freddie and Dreamers, had died aged 65.
For those too young to remember Freddie and the Dreamers were one the great 60s UK groups along with the Who, Kinks, Beatles, Stones etc.
Only joking about them being one of the great 60s groups.
They were a strange band, bit of ajoke really, with Freddie leaping around the stage singing "You were made for me" and "I'm telling you now" (only 2 hits).
He then toured the country for the next 40 years on the strenght of these two hits.

Re: Freddie Garrity dead
Freddie was one crazy performer but also talented you could never be sure if he was a comedy act or behind it all there was a serious singer but he did have his two hits.
Re: Freddie Garrity dead
Saw him a couple of years ago at a 60's show and his voice had gone so he had to rely on one of the band to do the bulk of the singing. Very entertaining performer though although I thought it was sad that on the way out, he was behind a stall flogging his cd's, don't suppose Westlife will have to do that in 40 years.
Re: Freddie Garrity dead
i recall the band but i was never a big fan ;had "im telling you now" on the tape in 1963 when i was 6, the tape got twisted up.lol.
Re: Freddie Garrity dead
the other hit was "if you gotta make a fool of somebody" later covered by vanilla fudge and bobby gentry.Guilbert wrote:

Re: Freddie Garrity dead
You were meant for me is without doubt one the most annoying records ever, an instant channel changer. However Freddie died of emphysema which is a bloody horrible way to go.
Re: Freddie Garrity dead
So did you see him live, Guilbert?
