The Pentagon is just an office building, designed in the 30's and built in the 40's. It certainly wasn't designed to withstand a nuclear strike, though I expect it has bomb shelters underneath it.

Summary: There is no conspiracy, but our Governments used and exaggerated our fears, to get support for an attack on Iraq and soon Iran.
In regards to the 911 subject, we know that the US trained the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan to fight the Soviets in the 80s, this was 'beautifully' captured in the film Rambo 3, here's the summary from Amazon:
"Plot Synopsis: John Rambo's former Vietnam superior, Colonel Samuel Trautman, has been assigned to lead a mission to help the Mujahedeen rebels who are fighting the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, but the Buddhist Rambo turns down Trautman's request that Rambo help out. When the mission goes belly up and Trautman is kidnapped and tortured by Russian Colonel Zaysen, Rambo launches a rescue effort and allies himself with the Mujahedeen rebels and gets their help in trying to rescue Trautman from Zaysen."
Anyways, we know that the US Government, wanted to find any evidence tying Iraq to 9/11, check Richard Clarke's book for that, we know the Bush & Bin Laden families go way back, and we know that our Government is using Al Qaeda as a threat to give us ID cards, etc.
But what we don't have is evidence that the US Government planned, and carried out 9/11. For those that are happy enough to believe whatever crap they read on a website about Governmental involvement in terrorist attacks (I.E. conspiracy theories), read up about the stuff they came out with after the London bombings, here are a few links, or just type in, 'london bombings conspiracy' or, 'peter power' into a search engine, here are some to get you started:
