PC World own brands DVD?

I use DataWrite Titanium which are CMG brand, i pick up about ?18 per 100, and they have the double strength coat, or ?20 for printable, I also use Bulk Paq White which are Sony Brand and are around a quid of 2 cheaper.

I wouldnt trust anything with a PC World brand on it

There are many more brands of disc than there are actual media.
Also one brand, particularly 'own labels', may not always be the same media.
Look up Datawrite 8x for example, Grey can be one of 3 media although all get a good rating and Yellow one of two media, one good & one mediocre.

I used to rate 4x Discs based on Ritek GO4 media but the 8x GO5 is not so reliable.
I have had CMC 4x and 8x media on various brands which generally have been OK.

Surprised to read Jaques has been happy with Datawrite Red - of which there have been numerous versions.
I only bought 25 4x ages ago and passed most of them on but of all the recorded discs I have received from various sources those most likely to break up or refuse to play at all on my player and not be copyable on my PC are Datawrite Red and anything by Bulkpaq - never had a white though.

Computer fairs and some internet sites/eBay sellers need treating with caution as they may not be selling Grade A discs!!!
I got 50 RiDisc G04 and about 20 were duds with major flaws in the manufacturing so didn't use that source again.

I have a Pioneer 107 writer and for anything important always burn at half the maximum rated speed of the media.

Yeah Nero has InfoDisc or DiscInfo with it.

I have a stash of Taiyo Yuden that i bought at a shop liquidation, and out of maybe 300 i have burned only lost maybe 10, and on this machine, brand new lightscribe dvd writter, latest firmware, i have lost 7 in a row, burning at 2x, 4x, 8x and 12x.

I popped the drive out put it into an XP machine used the built in writter, wriote in blinding speed, put it on a windows 98 web server box used EzCD no problems, so i have determined that Nero is BAD!, just awaiting the latest release see if that helps

My biggest beef with DVD/CD discs is the top coating is very fickle, and the slightest scratch fucks ya discs ups, i put discs in my pocket with keys, thro em around, i want a SOLID disk, and Datawrite Titanium and BulkPaq White have both been Solid for me.

Nope, i bought some DVD/CD R and RW Silver Discs and the top layer (where you would write on them) was sooooo thin, it scratched and cracked soooo easy.

I originally bought them as i was wanting to put transfer print on them like some CDs u buy that are shiny silver with print on them.

I used a pen and it could scratch thru and damage the top layer in normal use, and after a short while i had some of them peel off, where you get what looks like a water stain on them and they blister away from the plastic.
