I think Butragueno and Jorge Valdano do alot of the running of the club with Arrigo Sacchi as technical director but he's just there so that when something goes wrong then Butragueno has somebody to blame.
The strange thing about Camacho was that Florentino Perez brought him to the club to shake up the superstars and take them out of thir comfort zone. Everybody knew he was a disciplinarian. But when push came to shove the players (Raul mainly) moaned to boys upstairs and Camacho was told to tone it down, which he refused so he walked.
The job looks a poisoned chalice to me. Every top manager should want that job but none seem to be too keen. I wonder why?
PS. I am trying to take the smirk off my face with Man Utd's exit last night.

You've answered your own question
The Players have too much sway over management
Kind of reminds me of Newcastle and the Bobby Robson saga
The players who could easily retire tomorrow on what they've accumulated have the Club over a barrel because of the Bosman ruling. If you spent huge sums of money bringing a player to the club the last thing you want is for him to walk out 6/12/ months later for nothing
The choice is simple players or manager
managers you can replace but highly talented players not so easily
Up till now it appears the Manager is always the scapegoat even when he has the players performing which explains why many big name managers steer well clear of real madrid
cheers
B....OZ
PS Man U got what they deserved IMHO
Most of their Big Names are on the wrongside of thirty and the 2nd wave of youngsters have been discarded(unlike the first batch)for ready made recruits young recruits ffrom other clubs who it seems are anything but ready to be consistently brilliant
Victims of their own success in many ways
Success means winning is everything and developing players a luxury

Martin Jol's Lillywhite army!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only is Redknapp a turncoat but he's also a widdle baby, accusing Jol of influencing the ref just because we spanked his lot yet again. Take your beating like a man 'Arry, there's plenty more of them on the way.
