"I propose we hold a PBD (Public Backlash Day) when every normal person goes out with the express intent of offending every so-called minority and special interest group they can find."

I do it every day and it feels GREAT. Actually I think that's another reason I love the time I spend in Budapest so much, they do not give a shit about political correctness over there...not a toss. Quite the reverse actually and the ones who know about all the commie bullshit we have to contend with with think we are twats for putting up with it.

Still I'm sure it won't be long until the cancer that is political correctness begins to pollute countries such as Hungary too and the equivalent of the the "Bobby Sands Centre" will sprout forth to be filled with beret wearing, Gitane smoking, terrorist worshipping, communist homos talking about ethical trousers and vegetables.

There's a bit of a theme emerging here, Ossifer. Did you once get beaten up by a Guardian reader, who stole your pocket money? :-)

It's difficult to work out how safe parts of Budapest are at night when you venture into non tourist areas. I stayed in a sleazy hotel run by Mafia types, about half a mile from West End Center ... some of the local bars had a strange mix of clientelle, a world away from the bright lights, but they all liked Benny Hill and the hotel had porn on all night, but it was that pretty dreadful channel Private Gold.

Er, no...I nearly chinned one though - when I was a young milkman for the Co-Op Dairy. One of my calls was at a council/employment/retraining sort of office in the city centre, and I recall on one occasion the officer manager - who looked like he was called Jeremy - started giving me some lip 'cause I didn?t leave 'em any milk the previous day (should have put some fucking tokens out then) and threatening to report me to the dairy. Well, I'd had a crap morning and I hated the job anyway, so when he started mouthing off in front of the whole office my vision quickly took on the hue of scarlet. I was a bit more tightly wound in those days and my mind immediately dialled up a suitable option for dealing with Jeremy and the whole fucking situation - that being to smash the bottles of milk I had to hand over his fucking head and comprehensively kick his cunt in when he went down. Then deal with anyone else in the office who was foolish enough look me in the eye. Fuck the consequences - I had an itch that was screaming out to be scratched.

I was on a knife edge, a hair triggers breath away from 'loosing it'. But, the moment passed, I weighed the situation up in a fraction of a second, and on this occasion, I chose to swallow it and carry on the life course I was following at that point - there were other good things happening in my life apart from the poxy job and I didn't want to screw those up.

So, no. No Guardian readers have ever chinned me - I was much more likely to chin them - I was from chav land, remember. I was an angry, frustrated, young man (no money, no power, no respect) who had no qualms about using physical violence. And no, it was not that incident that was the precursor to my current antipathy to Guardian readers. That incident (and similar ones) were ones that pointed me down a certain life path ? to endeavour to be my own man and not have to doth my cap to anyone. I like to suit myself.

Good move in not resorting to violence. That's the kind of thing that would have followed you around.

Alas some people choose to look down on others

Recall my first job in Banking where promotions were down to your age(the 1980s what a joke)not your performance

I spent more time getting Morning Tea,Lunch & Afternoon Tea for the other 15 staff than I did serving customers

Let me tell you more than a couple of these 30/40/50/60 year old males who had been pidgeon holed into going nowhere positions were almost forced fed their meals on more than 1 occasion

Give a man a little bit of power over anyone and they can behave like a complete prat

I personally like Budapest a lot although it does indeed have some rough parts (Generally speaking the Buda side is nicer than Pest). My main gripe is how the "Commies" managed to fuck up the city with their hideous architecture which looks like the worst bits of Basildon or Harlow shoehorned into a city that boasted some breathtaking buildings prior to the commies fucking it all up!

Even those bastards commies didn't manage to ugly up the girls though eh?
