I was listening to the radio this weekend and a chap was talking about a Pakistani man. the radio host said we are no longer allowed to say Pakistani, and the correct terms are now A person from Pakistan.
Then how come yesterday from my favourite Asian grocer, they sold me Pakistani Mangos. Surely they should have been labelled Mangos of Pakistan.
Do I have a case of racissm in Fruit? Sorry about the spelling but I am a bit thick this morning.

Here's one for you to get your head round....have you seen those ads for Egg, the internet bank...you know, 'If you don't look after your money, who will?'.

All depict various shady conmen types....you've got the two guys running the lottery scam, the pyramid sales woman, the bloke flogging fake Wembley turf, the lying car mechanic, the dodgy cockney wheeler-dealers, and the bloke with the Miracle 2000 health pills.

Now, what do they have in common? Well, they're all caucasian. Egg made SIX ads featuring various lying, conniving and thoroughly untrustworthy folk, and they're all white. Now, that flies right in the face of the accepted maxim that once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, and three times is a pattern...one could say someone has an agenda here.

Of course, before you all jump to conclusions, I'm not accusing Egg of being racist towards white people, because everyone knows only white people can be racist, and it's people who know that indisputable fact that can see the REAL evil behind these ads. Why are all the conmen depicted as white? Simple...to deny struggling ethnic minority actors the work, that's why! Sure, it would have been so easy to put in a token Nigerian scammer, but that would involve hiring a black actor to play the role.

No, Egg is a greater evil than the BNP, National Front and Ku Klux Klan put together....brothers and sisters, let us rise up and smash this white-dominated hegemony of the Egg ads, and strive for a future where all the roles are filled by deserving ethnic minority talents.

Then, when they do, we can complain about ethnic minorities being stereotyped and depicted in a bad light by Egg.

Don't they realise that all the PC tiptoeing they do draws more attention to the people they are trying not to offend? Do away with derogatory terms by all means (and "spastic" is one that I'm glad is vanishing), but let's not be silly in the process.

What makes me laugh more than anything is the fact we all have black mates asian of all the nations thats supposed to cover, and to my knowledge none of them are p.c. when we are all out on the piss having a laugh with each other, if the police heard our language we would all be knicked.
My local news agent calls me a bloody white bastard, but i take that as a term of endearment. I enjoy the bantor. So whats wrong in that?

Back in the days many moons ago when i used to travel on a bus I had an interesting discussion with a skin head wearing a union jack top who asked anyone for a light.

It was interesting to note that he didnt really hate blacks or pakis. Not the ones who lived here least ways. He was just very patriotic. You should have seen the looks we got: A black guy with dreads and a white skin head geezer. Priceless.

A lot of these PC stories are bollox anyway. Do you remember the one about Enid Blyton books being banned by libraries? Not true.

Some of the 'loony P.C' stories are so ridiculous I often think they are a double bluff by the far right. Nothing does more to drive people towards extremism and cause resentment to minoritiees then being told we cant call christmas christmas and must all celebrate diwali etc. I know there are genuine loony left types out there, but I wouldnt be suprised if alot of it is far right scare stories and rumor.

On the contrary Steve, a lot of the South Africans I've met where really nice people. Mark and Lynn Marais are a perfect example. Storm and many others off the porn circuit and civilian life down to girls and guys I've worked with before porn...

As always is the case, its the small percentage that spoil it for everyone else.
