Freddie Flintoff

Post by Ben Jones »

Sports Personality of the Year, without a doubt. (Even though Kelly Holmes will win it.)

A genuinely world-class all-rounder, and a fantastic down-to-earth Lancastrian to boot. Incredible with the bat, and in tandem with Harmison, a formidable strike bowler.

Mr Flintoff- you are Approved!

P.S Note to Americans- Mr Flintoff plays a game called Cricket. You will not have heard of this. Please do not comment. Any comparisons to 'Baseball' will be treated with the disdain they deserve.

Agreed he SHOULD win it, but I think he will come 3rd behind Kelly and Matthew Pinsett.
Young personality will be Amir Khan then probably Wayne 'Punternet' Rooney.......again

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I've met the man on the street............and he's a cunt

Flintoff is indeed fantastic but I agree with Ace that Kelly Holmes and Pinsent will edge him out.

Might be different this time next year if we can kick the "convicts" arses in the Ashes.

And for the all the americans on about Baseball.

Up the Red Sox.

If I were inclined that way, I would 'holler' for the Mets.

Obviously Delusions of Grandeur....England beating Australia

You must be drunk

A more pitiful tournament I've not seen

The ICC could learn a thing or 2 from how to run a tournament from the Hong Kong Rugby Union Sevens

The Minnows like America,Bangladesh,Holland,Zimbabwe etc have to earn the right by defeating similar class sides to get a crack at big boys

If I'd paid to see Australia v America I'd be mightily peeved off

cheers

we will see you in the semis Deuce, bring it on
I just got my forms through from Headingly for the one day tickets next year when we will swing the balance back (as long as we realise Vaughan cannot play one days)
In reality we are not a great one day side but at test level we are a match for anyone, if we have a good tour in South Africa you could be in for a hard time next year

we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester

Yeah they are okay.

They hate the Yankess as well as us so any Mets fan is fine with me.

You're right it is a mickey mouse tournament and who's bright idea it was to put it on in England in September when the weather can be dodgy at the best of times obviously didn't engage his solitary brain cell that day.

And you are correct in that we are drunk. Drunk on the back of winning 10 of our last 11 test matches and you know that we are going to turn your boys over at some stage and it just maybe next summer.

All they need to do now is genuinely believe they can beat Australia and they can do it. But thats the key, do England genuinely believe that they can win. I hope so but I have my doubts. The problem is that in recent years most England teams have been beaten before they started.

Re: England - test cricket

I think This current England side is coming together well and will give Australia a better showing of how far they have come, they will be no walk over like in the past 10 years. They last time England won the Ashes back to back was in 1985 - 1986/87 when Gower & Gatting were the captains then.
They are a better test side no doubts there, They have some tough cricket coming up against South Africa & Australia...

Going back to Freddy, think hes done very well and deserves an award as hes made a difference, hes done the job when they nedded him. As a whole the team are playing well as a side.
