james bond.
james bond.
loved them when i was a kid now i find them tacky and boring.
Re: james bond.
The 1st 'official' film, Dr No is still the best. the early ones are still good, but after Live and Let Die, forget it!!
Great effects, but on the whole, shite films.
I can honestly say I have NEVER seen one made after 'Man with The Golden Gun' which I ONLY watched to see if you could see 'our house' where filming took place VERY NEAR to where we lived. It WASN'T shown, resulting in my contempt for Bond Films thereafter

Re: james bond.
Yeah, I didnt enjoy the last 2 Bond movies, they suffered from poor special effects, sloppy directing and wooden acting.
I think we need a new Bond. Brosnan is predictable, he has nothing new to add to the role. I thought he was good in Goldeneye, less so in his other films. I dont think any bond actor should do more than 3 films. I think Sam Neill(The lead role in Jurassik Park) should play bond, he was screen tested for "The living daylights", he has the looks and brawn to play the role, although he may be a bit old.
The basic elements of Bond are good. An exciting opening scene, attractive women, sports cars, gadgets and weopons. It just needs a new bond, talented director, new special effects team and more breaks in production. A new bond movie every couple of years gets boring.

Re: james bond.
The best Bond film was From Russia With Love. Once Goldfinger set a template of glamour and gadgets, the series was lost.
One thing, no way should that plank of wood Clive Owen be the next Bond. He's still in search of a personality. My God, he makes Jason Connery look like an actor.

I reckon we should put forward our very own steve56 for the role of Bond, he has all the attributes, suave sophistication, killer good looks, an uncanny knack with the ladies, up to date dress sense, and he can do all his own stunts and has an up to date bus pass.
Seriously isn?t Bond kind of stuck in a time warp ... nothing has really changed over the last 30 odd years, I would say ALL the bond movies have never had a believable or sustainable plot, plus the special effects have always been total garbage, but on the plus side in my opinion the villians have always been second to none and the gizmo technology has always been pretty cutting edge, with regard to the actor, I think we all have our favourites, I would pick Roger Moore over Sean Connery, the real problem I would guess is the over commericalism and obvious product placement which seems to blight and overshadow every new Bond release.
steve56 .... shaken, not stirred.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
Re: james bond.
Have you read steve56's admission
"evry time i wank i get the shits anyway."?
Doesn't go with the Bond image somehow....lol

Re: james bond.
I think a lot of people prefer the older ones because they reflect their time better: the sixties Bonds were very sixties, the seventies Bonds very seventies (a sort of rocket-fuelled cizano ad) etc. Bond lost his way in the eighties when they failed to update him accordingly - not just with the times, but with the action hero standard set elsewhere (Arnie, Die Hard and such). Sadly, ever since the franchise holders haven't had the nerve to give him the full makeover needed, opting for the shaky, past/present compromise of the Brosnan* era. Solid marketing has brought rude health at the box-office, but it's the miles-better Bond-alikes such as Mission:Impossible, True Lies and The Bourne Identity that point to where this particular wagon perhaps ought to be heading.
Moore was best, BTW. New Bond? a careless tenner on Bloom.
*someone once commented that Brosnan is what you'd get after feeding all the Bond requirements into a computer: it's all there, but something's not quite right.

I disagree. I've grown to like them as I get older when as a teenager I couldn't stand them. I don't like the Tomothy Dalton ones though, far too serious. The films should be taken for waht they are - a light hearted action romp with beautiful girls and great locations or sets. Not full-on state of the art ground breaking action thrillers like Mission Impossible. Imho.
p.s. the sexiest Bond Girl was that one in the Golden Gun who got turned into a gold statue on the sun lounger. Great arse. what was her name?
