Beers of the World

Post by crofter »

onto a subject that is very close to the heart of some of our forumites, what are the recommendations for those unknown and not readily available brews, here are a couple of my favourites at the moment:

1st:
Budweiser Budvar: the original Czech version not the shit yank stuff.
Try 5 or 6 large bottle of these and you instantly become a hard mother-fucker and you can take your choice of young birds who will surely throw themselves at you.

Ratings whilst drinking this (from the last 10 sessions):
Fights 7 Shags 28

coming in a close
2nd:
Sol: Mexican Lager
Can only by served ice cold, accompanied by a slice of lime, which the barmaid has to lovingly stuff down the throat of the bottle (I personally have shot my bolt a few times when she perform this trick).
Has its cons though, the barmaids hands could be dirty, thus having a negative effect on the purity of the nectar, and look out for the gringo moustache side effect, which unless you are living in Liverpool might not be the most up-to-date fashion accessory.

so those are my two recommendations, but do YOU know differently, your thoughts are very much welcome, and you will be entered in my top world beer super rollover jackpot draw ? 1st prize a half eaten special jumbo kebab which is undoubtedly the perfect accompaniment to any of the entrants brews.

It's a good 15 years since Sol was the fashionable bottle beer to be seen with.

Not much of a lager drinker, but I recall some excellent nights of coherent drunkenness (and not too bad hangovers) as a result of drinking Grolsch and, more particularly, Lowenbrau.

I seem to recall when I was in Wales some sort of brew called Elephant Lager, now that was fucking potent.

Bitburger bier is the smoothest best tasting most refreshing lager I've ever tasted. Brewed in the Eiffel mountains by a private brewery and like all German lager no additives at all are allowed. Used to drink it a lot when I was living there, but alas there doesn't seem to be much of it gets over here, I suppose they have little need to export it when the supply is soon exhausted there.

Whenever I go back though I always bring a couple of crates back with me. When they're gone I go back to the holsten pils, which would have to be my number 2.

By the way, a beer's also a quarter of the price it is here, good old rip-off britain!

the best bottled beer I have tasted is FAXE its from Denmark and about 5%
the first taste from a cold bottle is heaven ,made with spring water its an imitation of the original "Santa Maria" from the Middle Ages.

thanks guys, have tried the Nastro Azuro stuff didn?t really take to it I am afraid, I think it is nicknamed ?Chocolate Biscuit? here in the UK, bit too continental for my taste. Now the FAXE stuff sounds nice, where is it available from Elton??
Also must make an honourable mention to Kronenberg 1664, which is very nice too.
