Everybody I've spoken to that has holidayed in the US of A has said that the only way to be understood is to speak in an American accent
I think the reason the rest of the western world understands American accents is the fact that our TV & Cinemas are saturated with American content
I'd bet we'd have a very hard time understanding some of the accents
if we weren't exposed to it
I still struggle with the Scottish accent...even with the recent exposure to Velvet Soup
They use subtitling for Australian Documentaries going to the U s of A
but only where country folk speak

True, I suppose. But its usual connotation is of a hobby, like hang-gliding, or doing fiddly things in Scout-huts with bits of paper.

I mean the two cuckolded spouses: in the case of the female adulterer, her husband, and her lover's wife: in the case of the unfaithful male, his wife and his lover's husband.

Well, the women looked pretty ropey to me, as well......perhaps this is the REAL explanation for all that literary misery..........

It's not the 'sin' (that would be his choice of word rather than mine) that bugs me, it's the endless cycle of repetition, and then agonising about it, that I couldn't stomach. After the 100th time, one naturally begins to doubt the sincerity of any such repentance- although I concede that only his God could judge the latter. It seems a tad hypocritical to me to 'sin' once, repent, 'sin' again, repent, 'sin' again.......there's a pattern emerging here, and it ain't one that shows him trying very hard (or indeed at all) to become a better person.

Nobility of spirit, no doubt- you could certainly have given GG lessons......

Heh heh.... feel free to return to the point, whatever it was.

Re: Believe in God ?
Thanks for your thoughts. I currently think this life is a testing ground for us to prepare for a life after this. This world offers us the works - from the absolute best, to the depth of depravity and we're the ones who can make it or break it. For instance, a world without crime is quite possible but we fuck it up. I dont want to float round in perfect bliss in heaven after death. I want to live a life like this one but get it right next time.
Dont ask me why babies get murdered. I have no idea what they're supposed to have done wrong.
