Some cool choices for sure. Didn't Adrian Belew play with Bowie for a short period? That reminds me of another incredible player I saw with Bowie on the "Earthling" tour, Reeves Gabrels.
I personally would have Keith Richards in my own top ten and jostling with Tony Iommi for the number one slot in my fantasy league of guitarists would be David Gilmour. In my opinion nobody can put as much emotion and soul into their playing as Gilmour.
I'm also a huge fan of the Edge from U2 who is a great writer as well as a hugely innovative player.
congrats to tony iommi
Re: How about great drummers, too?
Oh superb choices!!! As a self-confessed rock'n'roll anorak I'm in heaven! I was lucky enough to see Cozy Powell play a few times and he was awesome. For my money as a Sabbath nut Bill Ward is right up there and I saw Manu Katche play with Peter Gabriel and he was blindingly good.
Seeing Neil Peart play was a great honour, he was probably the most impressive drummer I've ever seen although I'm too young to have seen Bonham or Moon sadly.

Re: While we're at it...great bass players!
I'm such an anorak...how about Peter Hook who was the bass player in New Order and Joy Division? He came up with some amazing basslines and pushed forward the bass on a lot of their tracks so it became the lead instrument.
