Racism is rife not only in Eastern Europe

Check out the behaviour of some of the Italian supporters
Throwing bananas on the pitch at black players of their own team

Similar thing happened in Russia to some Black players from a visiting team

The leagues of these 2 countries won't lift a finger until Fifa bring out the big stick

Should get a carpet ban on the clubs until the racist scum are ousted
for life

These people are the real hooligans

I'm sure I'll be dead and buried before any action is taken

cheers

Ace,

Henrik Larsson holds the British record for goals scored in European competion - there is no doubting his ability and he would score goals in any league. Lets see where he goes when his contract is up at the end of the season and see what you have to say about that.

One bad season at Chelsea doesn't make a bad player either and if you look at my post again you will see I am talking about specifically European performances - I know how weak our league is - and Big Chris was intstrumental in a lot of big games for us in the last couple of seasons - beating Juve at home couple of years back ( he was imense that night) and good solid performances in the Uefa cup last season as well.

And anyway Hoddle????

What a fanny he is.

I agree Hoddle is a nob, no arguements there!!
I like your fans, always looking at the bright side, never problems travelling abroad, your lot deserve to get past the first round for support alone. Hope you stick with Berti, he's structuring for the future, not for immediate sucess.

Bertie is ok but he can only work with what he's got. We are all facing catastrophe in the face up here. If Barry Ferguson - a life long Rangers fan - want's to move to Blackburn to further his career knowing full well that Souness's stated ambition is to avoid relegation then it show's how bad things are. In 5 years time there will be no big names in Scotland at all. You can already see players who a few years ago would have used Scotland as a stepping stone into the English Premiership going straight to teams like Portsmouth. I really fear for the future - the best Scottish players are not going to want to play in our Mickey Mouse league either.

Fuck I've just realised how bad it really is

I need a drink..........

Ferguson's ove to England is an indication of the financial chickens coming home to roost for the Old Firm. Six months ago, dynamite wouldn't have shifted Bampot Bazza from Bigot Central. When Amoruso and Numan went, and weren't replaced by expensive signings, it was obvious even to Mr F that the bubble had burst.

Last week it was revealed that the Huns have debts of ?68m, Celtic are cutting their cloth to fit their finances, Aberdeen and Hearts and Dundee United all have their money worries (the Dons tried share issues on at least three occasions to raise money, which a wastral manager then shelled out on mediocre players), and I wouldn't even like to speculate about where Dundee FC's money (if there is some) is coming from.

As I think I've said before, Scottish football was screwed by the arrival of Graeme Souness to manage Rangers. David Murray threw money at the club in order to buy European success (didn't work), and Celtic and (to a lesser extent) the others tried to follow suit. The trouble is there isn't the fan base in Scotland that there is in England, there are too few big clubs, and too many people who ought to support their local clubs are follow following the Glasgow giants for glory-hunting or "ideological" reasons.

The best thing that could have happened to our game would have been the Old Firm buggering off to England. A few hammerings at the hands of the London clubs or Man U would have been enough of a reality check to chase away those tossers who expect their team to win every game. Sadly, there'd be little advantage for the English clubs in admitting the Orange Lodgers or the Tricolour Tims.

Oh, and don't think racism isn't part of our game as well. There are still a few knuckle-trailing throwbacks (players as well as fans) who think a person's skin colour makes them fair game for verbal abuse.

Re: Managers

Dispite Scotlands piss poor standing, and the influx of their better players to the English leagues, you still have to acknowledge the managers down here, they are VERY passionate, even if you don't like them or their team. Fergie is very well known, but I think George Graham, Gordon Strachan and to a lesser extent, Graeme Souness get the best out of their players by reminding them their roles ON the pitch and reminding them the salaries they are on. None of those managers tollerate a shoddy performance by any of their players......and rightfully so!!

I agree Caractacus

You only need to look at the last few Old Firms games to see the abuse directed at Balde, Sylla and Agathe.

Or jump over to the BBC Fans Forum where Larsson id referred to as "The Flying Chimp" by Rangers fans.

Went to see St. Mirren v Clyde last week with my mates who's a Clyde fan - how refreshing was that? ?12 to get in for a decent afternoons entertainment.

My mate get's pissed off cos he gets Old Firm fans saying "I think it's really great you support a small team like that" as patronizing as fuck as if he should be grateful for there approval.

The financial thing howevre has been a Europe wide problem. If you want someone to blame for the current state of affarirs I suggest the finger is pointed at greedy players.

Greedy players? Yes, that argument holds up to a certain extent. But for decades clubs paid players relative peanuts and got away with it. In a world where the highest paid sportsmen are car drivers, golfers and basketball players (basketball? wtf is that all about?), footballers will want to dip their noses into the trough as well, particularly given the brevity of their careers. One cruciate ligament, and that could be it. So, you can't blame them for cashing in on what they have.

The problem to my mind began when Sky started throwing silly money at the clubs for exclusive rights, and the Beeb and ITV had to follow suit. If we're talking about billionaires to despise (and I bow to Ace's knowledge about Mr Perot's selfishness), I nominate Rupert Murdoch.
