Re: Non recurring billing
If I may suggest (and please don't release the hounds!), there is one risk from this type of payment that doesn't seem to have been mentioned, and it involves a recurring payment using a debit card.
Until a recent amendment was made to the Banking Code, a recurring payment using a debit card could not be cancelled. The agreement is deemed by the customer's bank to be permanent and between the two parties, regardless of the debit card used. In other words, even cancelling the card was ineffective, as the merchant would simply apply to the bank and the payments would continue. If you're joining a reputable honourable site, they would honour a cancellation, but who's to know?
The banking code amendment now means banks have to cancel such agreements if you tell them to, but before that I'd never use my debit card for ANY recurring payments (other methods have never been affected).
So, fair concern methinks!
