Call me old-fashioned, but personally I think it would probably have been worse if she had smoked in the same room as the kids and offered them fags and a g and t. Lets face it, its never a good age to be exposed to cigarette smoke, whereas fours years later the porn would miraculously be deemed ok.

I always remember Ginger Lynn, the US pornstar of the 1980's, saying later that she "helped many young men go through puberty". She probably did. Maybe movies like this one with Poppy in it does the same. These 14 year old lads would have sat there and gone "wow!". I agree, on reflection, that the mum allowing her son and his mates to watch it was out of order, and also (apparently) plying them with alcohol was not a good thing to do though.

I remember me and two friends of mine watching a porn video when we were all about 16 round at my friends house. His mum was in the kitchen and we were careful for her not to realise what we were doing, however she twigged and after a while she said "I dont think that is appropriate!". She certainly wasn't encouraging it though, she was against it, but should she have called the Police, and if not (and someone found out) should she be in trouble for allowing this to go on in her house? If the answer is yes, then all those millions of parents who turned a blind-eye to their 13 year old sons having porn mags under their beds, when you aren't meant to look at those things till you are 18, should too. It's an interesting point.

I remember when i was a teenager, we used to every Friday night watch porn at one of my mates houses or at mines. Whoever could get their hands on porn thats what we would watch. I used to get mines from my Auntie. Her boyfriend had a pretty hefty collection and she'd bring me one down on the Friday and i'd keep it over the weekend then give it back to her. She never ever encouraged me to watch them or say anything to me about them. Nor did she watch any of them with me or with any of us. But no doubt she knew i was watching them. I don't want to go into too much of the legalities or the moral issue of it. But i don't think my Auntie should have been arrested for it. At that age we were just eager to see stuff & we would have got our hands on it anyway, i'm not sure exactly where all my mates got theirs from, but i recall a lot of nicking from drawers and closets going on. Back then everything was just on blank tapes with no covers or anythingm but i don't think there was anything wrong with it. It certainly didn't do me any harm......i don't think?

The thing when thinking back on it though, and i'm sure a lot of the men here will have did the same, but i don't know where we thought of the communal aspect of watching porn. Its certainly not something i do today with any of my mates. But as a teenager we would all get together and watch it!

I recall quite a lot of communal porn viewing as a teen, and I agree it's not something guys do when they get older.

the story's in the Daily Mail...

Just found this, the story of the 'soccer mom' Susan Hammond and the Poppy Morgan film, appeared in the Daily Mail over here aswell. The Daily Mail's article, which would have been read at vast numbers of breakfast tables across middle England, included:

"Investigators said Hammond put on an X-rated film called 'The Wedding' starring British porn star Poppy Morgan. The movie was from start to finish, scenes of people having sex,' reads the arrest report. The DVD was seized as evidence from her home."

While I agree with the responses here (being a parent and all) I cant help but feel there are a lot more worse porn films than seeing Poppy Morgan getting a rogering

Pornography is clearly marked for adult use only and I seem to remember there was a distinct warning for it not to be shown to minors and used responsibly. There is a very good reason for that.

I agree that some punishment was in order for this breach but I'm a little suspicious that of all the films shown in the US, why a British porno distributed by Rude Britannia???

I'm with Andy on this one, I htink the cigarettes and alcohol would be a worse crime as a man and woman engaged in acts of sex is by no means worse than watching these horror movies where women are getting gutted, beheaded, ripped open for cinematic entertainment but there is something wrong with an adult who deliberately exposes pornography to a child but then without knowing the full extent of the case how do we know she didnt have the courage to discuss sex education and thought she would get herself off the hook by just showing him how men and women do it?

Personally it wouldnt sit right with me and make me feel uncomfortable at the mere notion of it because kids at that age are not emotionally or intellectually equipped to deal with that level of intimacy

Normally they wouldnt even mention the video which makes me wonder why they have in this instance

As I said she couldve exposed them to a lot worse than Poppy could ever do. Like Max Hardcore and all those throttling, gagging and choking videos which I dont think would be too healthy at all

I agree that there is a lot worse she could have done but it is not as if she was forced to do anything. The bottom line is what she did is still totally inexcusable however you look at it and whatever it is compared with; and I think Jo Juggs was bang on when she said that the woman in question doesn't deserve to be a parent. And like other contributors to this thread, I am totally baffled as to her motives

Doesn't deserve to be a parent? Unfortunatly this probably equates to a high percenage of parents if this woman doesn't deserve to be one.

I think many parents do a lot worse to warrant 'not deserving to be a parent'

as the world population reaches 7billion it's a sad fact that the majority of that number which are children will not be brought up satisfactory or to deserving parents. It's just human nature to be selfish and fuck things up. I've seen photos on facebook of parents making under 6 month olds pose with an unlit cigarette in their mouth and a can of larger in their hand all for the amusement of the so called parent.

I hate a high percentage of that 7billion!

Rant over, having a bad day.
