I noticed in another thread some conjecture about Lolly Badcock's status - ie; is she still working/or not, etc...

It got me thinking about back in the days just before UK hardcore was legalized (a little over a decade now as I recall!) and the first few years afterwards when we had some of the very best performers out there, who were not only second to non in their performances, but had some degree of career longevity.

Most of them are now retired, a few are still active today - but they easily competed with the very best of the US and European performers.

These names spring to mind - if anybody has been left out, please forgive! - so, in no particular order...

Layla Jade, Sabrina Johnson, Sarah Jane Young, Gilly Sampson, Roxanne Hall, Georgette Neale, Nici Sterling, Angel Long and slightly more recently Flick Shagwell, Jessy J, Alicia Rhodes, Holly Wellin, Roxy Jezel, etc, etc.

Most of these girls went above and beyond in what they were willing to do on-camera and always delivered the goods.

Sadly this level of quality, all-out dirty performers are very thin on the ground in contemporary British product - even companies like Harmony with their big budgets still have to hire-in mainly Euro and US talent for their productions - what a sad reflection on most current British performers.

How ironic that when porn was illegal in Britain, we had such a higher standard of performer than we do now, a decade or so on since legalization...

Thank free porn for the demise. They can earn more money escorting and no one has to know. Except them and the clients.

Online porn went to free porn, the money earned nose dived. Plus the chances of getting found out use to be very low. Now with online porn the chances of it not being found by someone who knows you are very high.

Same problem everywhere and the effect over all on quality, is easy to see.

Paul is right, there just simply isn't the money in porn anymore. Hooking rates and jobs are high and nobody except the client see's it.
Although I was told the other day that one girl is getting paid ?10,000 (yes, that's ten thousand pounds) a scene. Now that is truely obscene.

If you have to convince a girl to do it for ?10k she aint gonna do it better than a girl doing it for ?250 and whats worse is, there are plenty of lovely girls doing it hotter and dirtier for the lesser price. If you ask me then most girls deserve ?10k but the reason they dont get it is simple business economics. There is no way to profit for an investor from a fee like that

If anything it sounds like a sad indictment of the persons ego paying a girl that fee. Who could possibly be getting a fee like that right now anyway? Surely you jest! Whoever that girl is she should just ride it and rinse it hard but no matter how much money they earn it soon runs out because mostmodels arent very smart when earninglots of money.

The business couldnt stay the way it was forever. Its always constantly evolving and the future of it may lie in "porn girls" (and guys) simply becoming more accessible to the public by interactive and personal means than the traditional DVD and website updates.

There's plenty of British porn out there but in my opinion, little of it has the quality to sustain the medium going forward. And by quality I mean in every aspect. The male side of the business is pretty much a closed shop while the choice of truly beautiful girls is has been strangled by UK porn's total lack of glamour and appeal. It's absloutely true (& sad) that the best quality girls (generally) are to be found working as escorts only.

All aspects of the adult industry in the UK over the past 7-8 years has been in decline and it is my belief that the search for 'going further, cheaper' is entirely to blame. The swathe of lap dancing joints filled with East European dancers is matched in the Stag and Stripagram world. Over supply leads to more 'competitive' pricing and I'm personally aware of girls who are willing to travel over an hour for a gram that they will get ?40 (gross) for. And despite the scathing comments on these boards, many girls are more than happy to spend a few hours on the Babe channels at a basic ?200 a pop plus airtime bonuses. So many of these elements rob us of what we crave. Ultimately though, my greater amateur psychological take on it all is simply that taboo has disappeared and consequently there is little fantasy or excitement left for punters who now demand too much for too little.

Yep, you make some good valid points there but because porn became easily accessable and easily free that can only cheapen it.

Defining quality though will always be in the eye of the beholder. Although saying that in my opinion most 'brit-porn' is utter rubbish !

Yep, I totally agree Tel. The future is individual porn/hooking like on Adultwork - thus the need for professionals like me is zilch !
