not to pour doubt onto the current UK market but I think this needs saying, and therefore am happy to open up for debate/critique over my views as a punter:

the UK market is oversaturated by amateur-looking sites, or sites which re-use the same content instead of trying to bring new content to the fore.

first off - all these UK pornstar "megasites" which apparently offer top quality downloads of the UK's hottest names (i.e. UK Girls Downloads) yet rarely live up the hype! why can't someone like Killergram or another market force start up a proper, UK only video download site (not streaming, downloads) where you have access to videos from multiple providers similar to the Videobox/Videosz sites from the US?? surely this kind of distribution model would bring in a lot more revenue for the site operators than offering the same videos of Angel Long taking 3 guys filmed 8 years ago?

next - clips of videos! why oh why in 2011 do sites launch and STILL use clips, and offer a "full length" version (usually at a low-res)??? Jesus, this isn't 1995 when videos took an age to download, anyone with a 30MB broadband package is surely going to head for somewhere that they can get decent resolution for a full length video! looking at sites like 21Sextury - they offer a MASSIVE network of sites, with daily updates, and all new videos come in hi-def full length videos (although they also offer 5min clipped versions of the same videos for some bizarre reason)

multiple producers all working against each other - surely this kind of market protectionism isn't good for anyone's business?? Killergram and Bluebird appear to be the only names I can think of as major producers in the UK, everyone else seems to have this very small minded protectionist approach of "It's my road or the high road!" and then they're offering Sally (45) from Winchester, because Michelle Thorne and Shay Hendrix were asking too much for their services.

Surely a couple of the smaller producers could pool resource into booking a few of the bigger names, and then split the profits accordingly, instead of trying to scrape by on little more than an amateur looking site and a prayer that people will want to see another UK housewife scene???

I'll be honest and speak as a paying punter - there's not a lot of money available, and there's also the threat of torrents taking some of your business away so why not protect what's left of the finite pot of punters money available, and get in on the action by working either in cooperation with the other producers and trying to make a decent buck or two?

As a paying punter, I'm far more inclined to invest what money I have available into something which I think deserves it - I'd much rather pay to see something like Linda Leigh making a comeback scene than I would be for paying to see any other woman off the street in a slightly higher budget version of Chatroulette

sorry if this upsets a few folk, but this is how I see the UK market - everyone's out for themselves and struggling against better content available elsewhere on the web! and given the freedom of the internet, it's a lot easier to find high quality content than it is trying out a small UK site on the off-chance it's going to have something for me

I just wanted to quietly go away and enjoy my retirement from the adult industry, but as this post has appeared I feel I should have a right of reply on it.

No, the site has not died a horrible death; I am in talks with others about the site being taken over.

Not too long ago I became physically and mentally exhausted, simply put I burnt myself out. I have been in this industry 12 years and UK GIRLS DOWNLOADS went live in 2004 and my workload increased by spending time promoting the site, I was doing 10-12 hour days 7 days a week. Before I go any further I am not looking for sympathy, this was a decision I took by myself, but now my health is suffering through this and I have been advised to slow down or pay the price.

I am completely self-taught in web design and learned to promote the site by trial and error, so I am proud of my efforts, even though some of you think that ?the UK market is oversaturated by amateur-looking sites?. You are entitled to your opinions.

I must have done something right in the past 12 years, I have been able to finance a portfolio of properties and have invested in other, non-porn, businesses both here and in France.

I have really enjoyed my time in this industry; I have met and worked with some lovely girls. My first bg shoot was with Amanda White, then Laura Hermansen. That seems a long time back now. I also think I filmed Frankie Babes very first video shoot.

I have had some good arguments with some folks on here too; sometimes I was right, sometimes wrong.

There are loads of girls I wish I worked with and regrettably I didn?t, hopefully the new guys will.

I think the simplest answer to what you are saying is Rex is that a lot of "producers" dont take this seriously as a business at all.

I've met a load of producers who seem to thik producing porn should be an automatic license to print money without having to do much work and are quite happy being faceless in the background an dproducing cheap looking amateur sites is reflective of this.

They honestly dont think any effort will be noticed. One name springs to mind but he seemed to be everyones hero, except he wasnt making much money. He tolkd me and jacked it all in.

The porn business is the quickest way to lose a fortune if you dont know what you are doing. Thankfully I was making mney before I really came into it which is why I am still around but if I was starting out today and had no game plan I wouldnt even bother

well I have to say I have been around 7 years and my stuff is based on the new girls I find here in the North, so really the girls off the straight as it was stated earlier in this thread.

This isn't because it's cheaper, it's because I seem to find new girls who don't appear anywhere else, It's what I am about and have always been about.

I do like to shoot more well known models and pay the going rate however I do not want to do this too much as my site wouldn't have anything new to offer and why should people join my site if the girls can be found else where.

It doesn't matter how published the models have been I have worked with I am never remembered for that, it's the new girls people remember, especially the ones like Leigh Logan, Lena Leigh and Viola who went on to work for Killergram after I put them on the internet.

All I know about is producing/performing/editing that's why in under 2 weeks my new re-vamp site will launch, it's ran by a professional web designer and will be promoted in a way I have never understood, bottom line my team and my business plan has never been stronger and although the the content I offer is POV/GONZO I do edit and shoot in a different way than the point, shoot and upload to the net that a lot of the people you prefer to who have amateur looking sites.

My new site will reflect the style my content is known for but look a lot more professional not just in design but the way it works and usability for people who join, without looking too polished that it advertises something it's not.

I think there is a lot of life left in the POV thing and I am one of very few who has been lucky enough to shoot with published models who say they just full stop do't make films like this, but it is the way I have always approached my work, I am making films for profit and that's the way I have always seen it. I think character is everything in this style of porn and everyone brings something new to it, you can't reinvent the wheel in porn now so you have to make the films you want to make, or wish were made and just hope people respond to it, it's worked so far for me.

For the first time in my career I can focus on the areas I am strongest in and leave the stuff I don't understand to people in my team who do. I would cry my eyes out if I didn't treat this as a serious business with the money I have shot over the years and the money it has equaled now, I have to be in this for profit.

My site will be updated weekly, once the new look is launched and I have most recently just shot with the very talented Miss Kerry Louise, and she hasn't worked with anyone outside the bigger companies she told me, so hopefully having names like her on the site to mix in with the fresh faces will offer something that seems to please a fan base and still make this worth my while.

As for UK Girls Downloads I think there is a lot of life left in it yet, I just think Mr Bond needs to take a back seat but the business life of it is still there after all that time, this is living proof that amateur looking sites do last, do make money and are successful if ran right, and the fact Mr Bond is self taught as he has said, is even more impressive, I am just not good at promoting websites, hence my new team.
