Another thing I just thought is that you need to be careful when you see the term "Hi Res" downloads on websites, as this is a very vague technical term. Some, so called "Hi Res" downloads are actually very poor quality, it's just that the site calls them "Hi res" because it sounds better . It's like when Sky broadcasts "HD" it's not actual "HD" it's "Virtual HD" because of all the compression involved in sending the signal to the satellite and down to you, but they still call it "HD". Go up close to your TV screen sometime on a HD broadcast and have a look.....it's shite!
So you can easily have a situation where a website's "Hi Res" downloads of say, a 5 minutes scene could be much faster than another site's "Hi Res" download of a 5 minutes scene, why? Because the download that is taking longer may contain much more picture information and therefore much more picture quality than the other.
Our "Hi res" scenes are in fact "Hi res".
Anyway I'll stop nattering now and unleash the techies to check all our systems.

I tried a quick download earlier using the trailers from the main page. It was doing just under 3mbit second (320-350KB), so a 300MB file would have took around 15minutes........not super fast, but not super slow either.

Re: Problems with Jim slip
Just to support our Jim but even the BBC runs out of bandwidth on the iplayer at times.
ALSO
Do some speed tests of your connection when you find things slow - a LOT of ISPs are delivering way less bandwidth than they should. "Up To" means "more than nothing but a lot less than the TO".
How it works.
ISP has bandwidth and no clients. First clients get advertised speeds, even for big files. More clients join. Like a motorway, it fills up but people still pile along at 80. If it congests, ISP buys more bandwidth.
But BIG VIDEO is a killer - a few people grabbing different but large files is like fully loaded lorries overtaking each other on a two lane dual carriageway. Everyone gets stuffed, esp the later big video grabber who will often get a snaillike service, or none. And blame the website, when it's nothing to do with them. It's your neighbours downloading Top Gear
