music in films

DO you like having music accompanying the films?

I hate having background music, it's a total distraction for me. And it's seems the heavier the scene, the heavier and louder the rock music gets.
Thats why I prefer homemade films, you get the atmosphere just from the people taking part.

So FOR or AGAINST music?

Against but then Ive always been for realism in my scenes.

Some prefer to put music in to help with pacing but I htink its mostly lost on a majority of the audience it is intended for.

Also it really depends on how the music is used but generally my use is very minimal. In fact I'm considering losing main title music altogether as it is the one thing that dates and cheapens a scene....(Ha ha! He says as if there is any production value to his scenes when the world is my stage)

I hate music in scenes especially when they take out the normal sex noises so its all music as it taks away all the sexual pleasure from watching it.

Depends how it's used, really. A lot of the time it just seems slapped on in a bid to heighten the intensity of a scene. I'd like to see it used well more often, but I don't know what that would entail exactly.

Its the fucking pan pipes shit in the fiona cooper movies that cracks me up, makes you feel like your in the doctors waiting room. I am the walrus would be more apt I suppose
