On how long should a hand job scene last?.....how long is a piece of string?
It's down the subjects, the pace the footage, and how it captures your imagination really.
When editing a hand job scene, my rule of thumb (no pun intended) is if I get bored with the scene, then I know others will, so I'll edit/shorten it.

How important is the story and the minutes leading up to the cum shot?.....Very important. People watch porn to get off on and you have to get people in the mood and keep their attention. That's why it's also important to try and keep things fresh and come up with new ideas and situations as so much has been seen before.
